Confused

Ellis is awful in run support. His ONLY upside is a potential pass rusher, and even that has been poor lately. I think you're thinking of someone else, Ellis has always been known as a pass rushing DT.

But as long as you guys are expecting him to come in and compete for a depth/roster spot, then I understand being happy about it. If any of you are expecting him to start or even compete for a starting job, you'll be disappointed. He's garbage, he recorded 13 tackles while starting all 16 games last season.

Our DLine doesn't suck. This is a depth signing. He'll be behind 2-3 other DTs. If he was our starter obviously I'd be worried, because he was useless last year.

Based on the replies, every Bears fan in this thread has shown moderate to high levels of approval for this move.

Unless today is opposite day.
Bears fans are about the least optimistic fans in the world so there is no excessive enthusiasm here. We mostly say "What the heck, there is nothing to lose here with this signing." Besides we were down one in our First Round Bustout quota having sent Carimi to TB.

Haha, you were basically just setting us up to say something positive and hit us with the negatives

I never understand why people hate on the players who leave their team

Anyway though, yea, we all are happy because we dont have anybody behind our starters....the backups are Minter(undrafted rookie) and Nate Collins

It is not even clear that he makes the roster, dresses out game day, starts or even plays much at all.

Saints fans have been calling for him to be cut for a year and a half now. We were actually upset that we were even trying to negotiate with him to come back, even for a small contract.

Which is why I said if you expect him to compete for a roster spot, then I understand thinking it's an OK signing. Based on the first replies it looked like you guys were expecting him to come in and compete for a starting job or significant PT.

He is going to be our 4th DT and he has a ton of talent for someone that we will need 5 plays a game from.

He is more talented than your average 4th DT.

As far as I know, most of the guys who are actually active in the Saints forum don't live in New Orleans. We've only got a couple guys who actually live in New Orleans. Laughing Sorry man.

You might get better responses via PM if you can narrow down which guys live down there.

So many new posters in these parts!

...I'm also replying because Emma Watson.

But not for Jennifer Lawrence? fail.

Emma watson >>>> Jennifer Lawrence.

But decent pickup, we need DT depth, hopefully he learns to use his natural talent more effectively in Chicago.

Not even a big Harry Potter fan. But she's definitely got the looks and the talent, IMO. Haven't been too impressed by any acting Jennifer has done. She is pretty and is fairly funny in interviews and speeches, but Emma Watson is much more my type.

But I think we've derailed the topic of this thread enough. Lets just agree that Emma Watson is far superior and end it. Smile

We pulled this same move a couple years ago w/ Amobi Okoye. He came in, rotated w/ Melton and got 6 sacks in a very part time role. So its just a chance to repeat the same success.
