You guys are really high on this move.

What are you expecting out of him?

Probably to double his sack total from the past two seasons combined which will result in 1 sack.

Based on the replies, every Bears fan in this thread has shown moderate to high levels of approval for this move.

Unless today is opposite day.

Because if he competes at the level he is capable of, he will be a very solid #3-#4 rotational DT.. He clearly had two poor seasons in NO, I'm going to take it with a grain of salt, NO Defense was in shambles last season. He's still young, with Rod Marinelli's prodige Mike Phair coaching him up, still young at 28, and he offers a different skillset from our other DT's who are primarily good pass rushers and not so much in run support. Definitely a solid signing, why not be high on it?

Confused

Ellis is awful in run support. His ONLY upside is a potential pass rusher, and even that has been poor lately. I think you're thinking of someone else, Ellis has always been known as a pass rushing DT.

But as long as you guys are expecting him to come in and compete for a depth/roster spot, then I understand being happy about it. If any of you are expecting him to start or even compete for a starting job, you'll be disappointed. He's garbage, he recorded 13 tackles while starting all 16 games last season.

I think most of us are excited for him to be able to let Melton take a few plays off and stay fresh. I wouldn't expect him to get more then 15 snaps a game.
