I had posted something to this effect here before: Carimi was a positional reach when he was drafted. Every year's draft class has positions where, unfortunately, there just are not very many good players. And yet, despite all the rhetoric about Best-Player-Available, and he was the top guy on our board, you see teams gamble on questionable prospects, so pressing is a particular need.

This is why the "anybody is better than" mindset is a terrible approach. Carimi was a generally well-received draft pick because the fans wholeheartedly believed any offensive lineman would be an improvement. Two years later, Carimi is gone and J'Marcus Webb is once again penciled in as the starting right tackle, which servers as proof of how the grass is not always greener on the other side of the fence.

Even scarier, there was a widespread believe as recently as last September that Carimi should have been starting at left tackle! Shocked

His injuries really hurt him as an O-lineman-no pun intended. He was solid his first 6 quarters with us; it seemed like he was indeed our best o-lineman and JA actually made a good pick for us for a change. Unfortunatly he got injured and became just ok. I hope he does well in TB.
