Optimistic view on Gronkowski getting back to action following surgery today is late Aug. Problem is he then has to work into shape.

Being "ready" and being back to the standard we expect from him are two different things. At this point, I'm not expecting to see "good" Gronkowski (the dominant version) until Halloween.

Average return time for a MLD is 5.2 months. With a range from 1 to 15 months. Hope Hernandez is innocent and Ballard is healthy.

1984-1998, though. Hopefully they've made some advances in the last 15-30 years.

He will start on training camp PUP, obviously. But will he start the regular season on PUP? probably but not sure.

Yeah, I like how Schefter had to report today that Gronk is starting camp on PUP. Belichick is the most liberal user of camp PUP in the NFL. If a player isn't practicing on the first day of camp because of some injury, then he's going on PUP. Safe to say Gronk won't be practicing on that first day of camp.

I meant the season. I doubt he's ready before wk 6.

Rob Gronkowski will begin the preseason on the PUP list, per source. Expected. But important to know it will happen (as opposed to likely)

Why TFB doesn't need RobGronk to be elite by Oliver Thomas is an awesome article. He posted it on Twitter this morning. Here's some visual tid bits...

Brady's QB rating with & without Gronkowsiki:

Also this visual note which is more of a tool or argument for the Pats being okay with all the pass catching problems in last year. Pats leading WR in early 2000's had >60 catches because spreading the passes and wealth around was key and the game plan that made Brady special. Doing the things he was without studs like other QB's.

Patriots Leading WR since 2001:

Not trying to troll, just sharing information.

My boss was in Vegas this weekend and apparently Gronk was in the club he was at. I thought he was BS'ing me because he just underwent back surgery but he claims the DJ was announcing it and asking why he wasn't at the hospital.

Guess it's a good sign that surgery went well that he's out and about?
