This is a yearly tradition in the offseason to pass the time. This is the 3rd annual draft that I've ran so hopefully I have it down to a science Laughing

I kept the same rules as the 2 previous years. Please let me know if you think I should add or omit anything. I'm considering eliminating the coaches in the draft... I don't think people will take it into account.

2012 Draft Thread (for reference):

http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=492317

Rules:

1) The draft order will be randomized, and it will be a snake draft (1st pick in 1st round picks last in 2nd round).

2) Trading your picks is allowed, but must be ok'd by either myself or a co-commissioner (BBF13).

3) We are drafting a full 53-man roster! So draft accordingly.

4) You can run either a 3-4 or 4-3 defense. You can draft 4-3 players and convert them if you'd like.

5) We will be picking a Head Coach, Offensive Coordinator, and a Defensive Coordinator for your coaching staff. Only CURRENT NFL and College coaches can be picked. (therefore, nobody can pick Bill Cowher) And you can demote or promote head coaches / coordinators if you want.

6) Please private message the person drafting after you that it is their turn to pick.

7) Every team must start at least 1 Buffalo Bill player. (The player selected cannot count as your rookie or your 2nd year starter.)

8] Every team must start at least 1 second year player. You cannot use a Buffalo Bill as your 2nd year player AND Bill player. (For example, if you draft Stephon Gilmore, he can count as your 2nd year player but NOT your Buffalo Bill.)

9) Every team must start at least 1 rookie. You cannot use a Buffalo Bill as your rookie AND Bill player. (For example, if you draft EJ Manuel, he can count as your rookie but NOT your Buffalo Bill.)

10) In regards to rule 9, you cannot draft a rookie to be your returner, punter or kicker.

11) Skip ONLY if it has reached your time slot! (Starting with round 3)

I'm in, and I can co-commish. I can handle the voting process at the end.

Also, you might want to update the players you have listed in rules 8 and 9 Wink

What do you suggest?

I thought they were reasonable. I think most of us have full-time or part-time jobs to work around and don't all have access to our phones while we work.

Yeah what was it, 1 hr time slots? I don't think we could do any less than that.

Should drafting be based on creating a team for the future, or just one season? Should current injuries and such be noted or ignored?

I think we should vote on this. Previously, we left it open. Most people went with the win now attitude. I favor this option.

With RG3, Russell Wilson and Andrew Luck entering the picture I can see the dilema.

Personally, I think it could be based on your personal philosophy. But we could just go into the draft knowing that in order to win, youth holds more value than going all in to win one superbowl (potentially).

That said, I think current injuries should be ignored. And I vote that it should be up to us as the GM whether to build to win now or build a young team.
