Yahoo! Sports' Jason Cole reports Hakeem Nicks is unhappy with his contract, which is why he didn't show up to OTAs on Wednesday.

http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--wr-hakeem-nicks-skips-giants--workout--irritates-coach-tom-coughlin--234525717.html

Nicks is seeking a deal "closer to the range" of $10 million per year and possibly more, same as Victor Cruz who's also holding out.

Nicks is due to make $2.725 million on the final year of his rookie contract this season.

Who cares, neither have leverage. And in the new CBa holding out works in favor of the team not the player. Nicks can be tagged next year, close thread (respectfully)

Is this joker taking the [inappropriate/removed]?

He was injured all last year and has no leverage? What a clown!

Completely lost respect for him.

Honestly, the Giants should jump on this opportunity and get Nicks for $9-10 million a year. He could be much more valuable if he has a great season. I mean Mike Wallace is getting $13m a year. Now is the best opportunity to lock up Nicks. They essentially have the same amount of time to come to agreements with both Nicks and Cruz because each will be a free agent next year. Lock up the more important one who happens to be coming off a career worse year. High risk with injury concerns, but this could be the key to retaining both Nicks and Cruz.

His hand is forced to do this if he wants to stay a giant. What, is he gonna sit back, be the more consistent player than cruz, be the only reason cruz has those numbers bcnhe is taking every double team and watch cruz get paid while he lives his contract out?? Eff that noise. Pay nicks 10 mill a year and let cruz walk. All offseason you heard cruz nag and complain that he deserves more money and nicks heard the same thing. We all know the odds decrease of getting signed to a lojg term contract when one receiver is already getting paid a high contract.

Give the contract to the man who stayed quiet all offseason instead of signing with jay z and having every article written about him bc he loves the media.

Plus we have the upper hand with cruz, he holds out after june 21st, then we only have to pay him 700 grand or something.

Ugh ... Laughing

Not much I can say on my phone, I'll read the article later but from the title that's a little disappointing. But I can sorta see his reasoning behind it.

As for someone saying he's the better player I agree. But he's better when healthy, as of his injury right now I don't know where he is physically. But if he can play all 16 games then I would say sign the man and try to restructure Cruz's deal again. Or have him walk, which I'd really hate for him to do because he's a great talent.

I hate it when guys say they don't like their contracts. They know they signed it right? Did he not expect to play well so he thought the money we were offering this year was going to be more than enough or something? Anyway. Stay healthy, play 16 games, get your $10 mil.

The Nicks holdout is NOT related to his contract at the moment

I've been saying the Giants should work on a contract with him NOW. He's probably going to have another great year next year and garner top 10 money. This is the lowest his value is ever gonna be.

Wonder what it could be then ... Hopefully nothing catastrophic has happened to cause his hold out.

If the report was accurate, then its absolutely not an over reaction. Asking for a contract in his situation, would be an awful thing to do.

I would start to lose respect for him if was missing time in June, July, and August. NOT in May

Either way the new report says it is not contract related anyway
