|
|
|
Ever since Lord Favre left, the Packer fans have been keeping an "Aaron Rodgers Appreciation Thread" in their forum. I thought it was a quite premature when they started it, but I have to admit that Rodgers has actually been a great QB for them since the legend left.
I've been thinking that since we have the best running back, and last year the best overall player in the league, it is time for us to have a place to sing the praises of AD.
Here is a pretty nice video to start things off:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tGXYjIre-8I&feature=fvwp&NR=1
Watching some of these plays, I'm just amazed at how light AD is on his feet when he's running in traffic. This is an aspect of his game that you don't notice all the time. When you consider the power with which he is capable of running, it just goes to show what a special athlete he is.
As a former running back myself, another thing that I just love to see is how fast and low he gets when he sees a hole in the line. There is a play on this video against the Cardinals where Ponder is just reaching out with the ball and AD practically attacks it and hits the hole with incredible quickness and ferocity.
There just aren't enough superlatives one can use to describe AD's game. When he was a rookie and had just been drafted, I remember hearing him say that his goal was to become the best that has ever played the game. At the time, even though I was elated to have him on our team, I thought he was probably reaching a little high. Since then, I have come to believe that he is not far from reaching that lofty plateau.
I still remember how excited I was when Roger Goodell announced at the podium that "With the 7th pick in the 2007 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings select Adrian Peterson, running back from the University of Oklahoma". I'm proud to say I knew that very moment that we had just drafted the player who would be the best running back in Vikings history. What I didn't realize is that we may have also taken the best running back who has ever stepped on an NFL field. After passing on Marcus Allen for "Disco" Darren Nelson, and then the Herschel Walker fiasco, it feels great to have a guy like AD wearing purple.
Some people may think I'm premature in saying it, or that I'm drinking the purple Kool-Aid, but I truly believe that with one more season of say 1,800 yards next year, we may very well have the greatest running back of all time on our team.
Thanks for everything AD! It has been a real privilege to see you playing for our team!
Let's hear it for the 2012 NFL League MVP - Adrian Peterson! _________________

Call me a homer, but I think he's the best player in the league. He's been in a different league than the competition from day one. _________________

I loved what Tim Ryan had to say about him on Sirius NFL Radio:
"I call him Secretariat. He's just better than everybody else."

Never too early to start one of these for the soon to be Greatest Running Back to ever play the game.
Honestly though I'm just glad I have the chance to watch his career in my favorite team's uniform! |

That, or the classic MN was foolish for passing on a franchise QB for another RB. _________________

I just stumbled across a thread from after last year's draft about who the better duo was, Kalil and AD or Joe Thomas and Richardson. Someone said that Richardson is better than AD at this point because of the injury, I literally laughed out loud. You just can't count him out. |

Yup! Good thing we didn't listened to them considering every QB in that draft was almost a complete bust (Kolb being the best QB from that class says a lot.) _________________

Having Adrian Peterson is like having one of the Spartans from the movie 300 as your franchise running back. |

Having Adrian Peterson is like having ALL 300 Spartans, except the guy with one eye. We need him to narrate. _________________ To give anything less than your best is to sacrific the gift - Steve Prefontaine |

So he's like Paul Allen? _________________
