According to sources close to Jones, he's unhappy with his contract and how the Dolphins have been approaching the negotiations.

His arrow has been pointing up every year since his rookie campaign. I think it's worth the risk to pay him now. The deal would probably be cheaper than if we wait until after this season anyway.

Meh not a huge story. I'd probably pay him, but I understand being patient also. He can't really hold out.

Why pay him?? This is something that we talk about every year in FA but we don't get with our own players. Just because they have a good season there's no reason to pay him big. Let him stay hungry and get at it then pay him.

I would not pay him. At the end of the day this is business. He has no leverage because after 2 months of holding out he will have lost his entire years salary to fines.

Let him play this year under contract. If he does well start contract talks with the intention of tagging him if you cannot reach an agreement.

Though I love his play on the field I feel it would be a mistake to give in to his grumblings.

Call me old school but ... a deal is a deal, our word is what makes us gentlemen at the end of the day.

Besides if we do give in we'd be setting the table for others to follow in his shoes.
Players, all of us need to understand that this is a grown up world full of responsibilities & obligations.
No one is exempt.

I can just imagine my bosses reaction to me not showing up for work just cause I am certain I
deserve more money !!! Laughing

Pleaze

I hope they get it worked out Jones has been good, it being his final year on rookie contract, I can understand him wanting a new deal but at some time, he should honor it as he agreed on it.

I do want Jones extended but if his price is too high then I'd rather wait and see.

Him and Ireland came to a "verbal agreement" about getting their contract talks going again.

I think we all understand that he has some talent but ...
He needs to get a grip & realize he hasn't proven he is great or anything along that margin.

Somebody needs an ego check !
