I know it's a bit premature and some people may hate me for this, but what can I say I'm bored. To me, it's a fun idea to predict the final 53 at this point in the offseason to preseason when we have a better idea of what the team looks like on the field and compare/contrast how the team evolved. I think our 53 is one of the more unpredictable rosters, especially when it comes to the competition at the bottom third of our team, which makes it that much more fun and debatable. Here's my prediction:

QB- Vick, Foles, Barkley (3)
RB-McCoy, Brown, Jones (3)
TE- Celek, Casey, Ertz (3)
WR- D-Jack, Maclin, Benn, Cooper, Johnson, Momah (6)
OL- Peters, Mathis, Kelce, Herremans, Johnson, Kelly, Watkins, Quinn, Menkin (9)
Offense- (24) While the starting QB job may be the biggest question mark, it's much easier deciding who stays and who goes. RB-OL is up in the air at this point. I could see someone like Carrier making it as a TE/WR over a #6 WR like Johnson/Momah, or over a fourth RB like Polk/Jones due to versatility. Only time will tell

DL- Cox, Soap, Thornton, Curry, Kruger, Logan, Geathers (7)
LB- Barwin, Graham, Cole, Ryans, Kendricks, Matthews, Knott, Chaney, Phillips (9)
DB- Williams, Fletcher, Boykin, Poyer, Marsh, Phillips, Chung, Allen, Anderson, Wolff (10)
Defense- (26) It's even harder picking out the defense than I initially thought, but I'm guessing the numbers I chose to keep at each position is on point.the players, that's another story. DL depth is a huge unknown, and outside of our top 3 pass rushing OLB's there's not much depth. The depth in the secondary is more comforting then our starting unit. Honestly don't know what to expect from this unit. We should be set if Harbor and Avan's transition go smoothly though lol.

ST- Henery the K, Jones at P, LS Dorenboss (3)

I can see myself altering this lineup within days but it's simply a fun exercise. Whats everyone else's opinion?

I see a three receiver set including DeSean Jackson and Damaris Johnson causing some problems for other teams.
Send Jackson deep. Drag Johnson underneath. Send the 3rd receiver in between. They'll all get open sometimes.
If I were Kelly, I'd be drooling over that.

Hmm after thinking about it, I'd prob replace an ILB for Hunt. At first I was thinking Chaney could be a 4th option, but on second thought, no chance

Offense: 27

QB: Vick, Foles, Barkley
HB: McCoy, Brown, Jones, Polk
TE: Celek, Ertz
Hback: Casey, Harbor
WR: Jackson, Maclin, Benn, Avant, Cooper, Momah, Johnson

OT: Peters, Lane, Kelly
OG: Herremans, Mathis, Watkins
OC: Kelce, Reynolds, Tennant

Defense: 23

Dline: Soap, Cox, Curry, Logan, Thornton, Kruger
OLB: Cole, Barwin, Graham, Hunt
ILB: Ryans, Kendricks, Chaney, Acho

CB: Fletcher, Williams, Boykin, Hughes, Poyer
S: Phillips, Allen, Chung, Wolf

Special teams: 3

K: Henery
P: Jones
LS: Dorenbos

If one of the top tackles gets hurt, Herremans swings over and then Watkins steps in for Herremans.

Acho can play inside or outside LB, Curry can also stand up if necessary. Only in emergencies though, I want him to focus on the 5 and 3 techs.

Keep all the WRs as insurance. I would use Jackson on punts, and not worry about him getting hurt because of Johnson. We need to groom some bigger, younger WRs because I think that's what we're moving to and I think Jackson and/or Maclin will be gone next year. Momah and Johnson probably aren't ready for full-time work, so Avant is needed as locker room presence. He is also versatile, in that he can play special teams, he can block, and he was even considered the extreme measures backup QB let alone him now practicing DB.

I would keep Momah and Johnson both though, because while I don't think they are ready I want to develop them for next year and don't trust them on the practice squad not getting stolen from us.

With the versatility on our defensive front seven, I think we can handle only 14 guys there then Herremans being versatile allows us to keep only 9 oline. This allows us to keep extra skill guys, which I think Kelly will utilize.

Also with my depth chart we can easily play any front

4-3 under:

----------TE---------RT-----RG--------OC-------LG------LT--------------
Barwin------Graham------------------Soap---------Cox-----Cole-------
----------------------------Ryans---------------Kendricks----------------

4-3 even

-----------TE--------RT------RG-----OC----LG---------LT---------------
-------------Graham--------Soap----------------Cox-----------Cole-----
---Kendricks-----------------------Ryans------------------Chaney-------

3-4 even

-------TE-------RT------RG-----OC-----LG--------LT-------
Barwin------Thornton-------------Soap-------Cox----Cole
--------------------Ryans------------Kendricks--------------

4-2 nickel

---TE-----RT----RG------OC-----LG--------LT-----------
------Curry---------Logan------------Cox------Graham
-------------Kendricks-------Ryans----------------------

3 players from other rosters will be on the practice squad.

99% sure Dixon is not PS eligible due to his time on active rosters and experience in the league.

I questioned that myself, but he was on the Ravens PS last year and I thought he may have one year left but I could and might be wrong Laughing

Last year was his final year of eligibility for the PS. If he isn't on the active roster, we will have to cut him.

After doing this, I'm more concerned with our front 7 than our secondary. We have little to no known depth at ILB, OLB, and DE. Our young draftees/UdFA's really have to pull through or we could be in trouble. I wouldn't be against us signing a vet LB or 2 and maybe 1 DL upon cuts.

Same w/ our OL depth to a lesser extent. Maybe bringing back someone like J. Scott wouldn't be a bad idea

Our ILB situation is fine, and our predator situation is fine. I agree about DE, we have players but most are unknowns. Besides Barwin, I do not know if we have any pass rushers who can adequately cover. They don't have to be Ed Reed, but they need to be able to cover a small zone and follow a slow back or tight end.

Guard and tackle we're set at on the oline, it's center I question. If Kelce isn't healthy this year, who do we have? A bunch of late round/undrafted practice squad scrubs who haven't stuck on a team yet. If Watkins wants to dress on game days he needs to learn how to play center, at least as an emergency situation kind of thing. He can't be dressed as just a backup guard. You dress seven lineman on game day. You need a swing tackle and a center as your two backups, and one or both should be able to play guard too. If you can only play guard, if you aren't starting you suck.

Meco and Kendricks are legit starters at ILB for at least a couple years, then Chaney can be the main backup. Then we have guys to compete for the fourth job. Carrying more than four would be dumb unless one of them can play outside too. Acho potentially can.

Chaney should prove to be serviceable but he did fall out of favor in a 4-3 which suits his skill set better than a 3-4 IMO. Acho's versatility may earn him a roster spot, but he's an unknown himself. I'm happy with our starting linebackers and Graham for depth, but unless someone steps up at ILB were extremely weak behind the starters.

I'm guessing well carry a center who can play both guard spots adequately, but can anybody on our current roster do that? Watkins was said to be versatile being able to play left and right guard and potentially RT but up to this point he hasn't shown that. If he could somehow play center he's definitely worth keeping as depth for C/G but zi have my doubts. And maybe Kelly could prove to be a solid swing tackle, but in an uptempo offense we can't guess our 2-3 reserve OL will fill in if needed, it's important they can play. Especially cause lane may need time to develop, although its not worrying me too much.

Just in general, our lack of depth on both lines and potential poor personnel/depth at LB is a cause of concern
