Il take the wideout who forced the most missed tackles in 2013 and was top 5 in 2011. _________________

I'll take Marshawn Lynch when he catches the ball
Otherwise I'll take Golden Tate. Dude is so shifty and tough to bring down. It's him or Anquan Boldin. _________________ #FireDeanPees...and Chris Hewitt....and Matt Weiss |

Mike Evans will probably win this poll in a few years.
I'll take Brandon Marshall. |

Alot of people don't recognize Randall Cobb, but I will. The guy is extremely tough to bring down and I've seen him run over defenders that you wouldn't think he could. . |

Yeah, on kickoff returns I've seen him run straight over a defender. _________________

It's probably Marshall or Dez.

I voted Dez Bryant. Sometimes that dude looks possessed after the catch. |

Matt Elam had no problem
But I think in terms of this thread there has to be a distinction between finesse and power. Guys like Dez can power through defenders, but that is essentially the same as a guy like Golden Tate doing this:
or
So we have to recognize the distinction here between finesse vs power, or you can just the "forced missed tackles" stat from PFF as one kind of reference. _________________ #FireDeanPees...and Chris Hewitt....and Matt Weiss |

This is Golden Tate. Most people will try and quote broken tackles to say their guy is the best, but I'd rather look at Broken Tackles per Touch.
For example, in 2012 Golden Tate broke 14 tackles. Brandon Marshall also broke 14 tackles. However, Golden Tate broke a tackle 29.2% of the time he touched the ball. Brandon Marshall broke a tackle 11% of the time he touched the ball.
http://www.footballoutsiders.com/stat-analysis/2013/broken-tackles-2012
Darrius Heyward Bey and Percy Harvin are the closest receivers to Tate, at 25.6% and 22.6% respectively.
Now this is the best source I could find for the 2013 season, but Tate led the league in broken tackles at 21.
http://www.stampedeblue.com/2014/2/13/5407054/2014-nfl-free-agency-wr-golden-tate-would-fit-with-colts
Quote: | In 2012, he had an impressive 16 tackles broken or avoided. In 2013, Tate led the NFL with 21 tackles broken or avoided with 21. |
Tate managed to lead the league in broken tackles even though he only had 64 receptions, and 86 total touches (including special teams, rushing attempts, and kickoff returns).
The answer is Tate, bottom line. _________________

He doesn't seem very good in this area to me. At least in comparison to the majority of others on the list. _________________ Adopt a Cowboy: Morris Claiborne

First off, I think there's two categories. There are guys who break tackles because they huge and have some wiggle like Dez, B-Marsh, and prime Boldin. Then you have your guys who are quick and agile like Percy, Tate, and Cobb. Ranking them together is a little tough, it's like McCoy vs Lynch.
Here's mine:
Tate
Dez
Cobb
Percy
Marshall
Tate is a freak at it. He's too good for his own good sometimes because he'll do that stupid thing were he'll go back behind the first down marker. But seriously, he's incredible at it. Top 5 every year in Missed Tackles with less touches
