Yes, and I really don't see anyone disagreeing with Hoyer being a better option than Colt McCoy at starting QB. Isn't that what Lombardi said?

At the time, I would have taken Colt

Now, I'd still probably take Colt. I could be proven wrong, but what has Brian Hoyer ever done to show he's worth the time of day?

I'd take this guy over Colt. He's got a lot more potential and a better arm...

Seriously, arguing who is better Colt v. Hoyer is silly. neither QB has done anything to merit being a starter in the NFL.

Why would you have taken Colt? What do you think Colt has ever done to show he's worth the time of day? Or Kolb even?

I think the answer to all of the questions lies in the players' potential to be a starter. McCoy and Kolb have failed as starters, Hoyer hasn't (yet).

I don't think any of the 3 players would beat out Weeden, and probably not Campbell either. But in the context of Hoyer vs McCoy vs Kolb--if I had those guys going into the 2012 season, knowing what I would have known about them at the time--I'll take the guy who hasn't consistently played 'not good enough'.

For what it's worth, it seems that Adam Caplan is pretty plugged in with Browns news. He's been right about quite a bit with the new regime, and everyone on the web is crediting him with breaking this story. Obviously, it's not a big story, but it's something to keep in mind, as far as Browns' sources.

Caplan also tweeted that the Jets, Steelers, and (maybe) Raiders were also interested in Hoyer.

No one be upset about me trying to be positive but...

What if we develop Hoyer behind Weeden and he:

Lights it up if Weeden goes down and takes us to the playoffs OR
Trade him to a team for a 1st or 2 2nds etc.

Very Happy

i thought Thaddeus did an admirable job when pressed into starting duty. was looking forward to watching him in preseason but alas, we'll get to see Hoyer instead.

I agree 100% with this. I hope this doesn't mean they don't like Thad

I wasn't serious, you big silly goose!

Lewis will probably go to the practice squad.

I don't think he can go on the PS anymore. That's only for first and second year players I think.

How long has he been on the team?

I dont know why everyone is fond of Lewis.

He is gonna get cut and deserves to be cut, he is nothing special. He looked ok in his one game because no DC has ever seen him play in an NFL game so there was no way to game plan him. There is not some tape of him and coaches could come up with a way plan against him.

no thank you, I rather stick with Weeden, Campbell, and Hoyer
