This guy was to be my big breakout WR last year but he was still recovering. He SHOULD be 100% now and with them not drafting a WR and signing a big name free agent, do you all feel he's the "secret weapon" to be unveiled? Any local reports on his progress in the past few days or weeks?? And out of .........
Smitty
Lafell
Murphy
Hixon
Gettis
Adams
Ginn
Pilares
Who makes the final cut??? Oh and I left out Edwards for a reason.....lol |

Murphy is with the Giants now, and no nothing lately on him. Needs to step it up to make the team. _________________

I believe Gettis is on the roster bubble, so he better be healthy and hungry for camp. He needs to show the FO something to stick around. _________________

Gettis is a major long shot to make this roster in my opinion.
Smitty, Lafell, Hixson, and Ginn are your for sure guys to make the team.
Outside of that I rank the guys like this:
1. Pilares
2. Adams
3. Edwards
4. Gettis
I hope I'm wrong and Gettis can be the man he was his rookie year, but I just can't see it happening given he's been on IR the past 2 years. _________________

Flip #3 and #4 and I will totally agree. Edwards is as good as gone should be one of the 1st players cut. _________________

I think Pilares is gone. Ginn trumps him as a returner and Hixon is what Pilares should be as a WR.
I think we take 6 WR's Smith, LaFell, Hixon, Ginn are locks. Gettis will make it and the final battle will be between Joe Adams and A. Edwards. |

Even though Ginn will probably take his return spot, Pilares has still been more productive as a receiver than Edwards, Gettis and Adams. I'd like to keep him around. He gives a different element to our receiver core that we don't have after Steve Smith. |

Funnily enough I just picked up Gettis as a late round flier in my sim league FA draft. I figure he should be fully recovered at this point and we have all seen his potential. One thing that worries me on top of the two years of being out of football is that he allegedly shouted at Rivera on the sidelines last year, so he may be in the dog house. |

Gettis should be the fourth WR. We cannot count on him so nobody is, but if he is healthy and has a good camp, we could go 4 wide with speed and talent.
Pilares is a sleeper. I like him, just think he has not been given a shot. Our problem is we expect late round picks to produce instantly--when they do not, we tend to toss them aside. They need a learning curve and time to develop. |

Sort of, but our bigger problem has been overdrafting or Reaching for guys in the draft... I.e. Armanti Edwards, Everette Brown, etc.
We draft a 6th round prospect in the 3rd round and expect him to perform at a 3rd round level.
We draft a 3rd round prospect in the beginning of the 2nd and expect him to play like a 1st rounder (cuz thats what was given up for Everette). _________________

Everette Brown was in the first round of many mock drafts at the time and even popped into the top 10 in some. Although it was a risk to trade to get him and although in hindsight it was a mistake, many people rated him highly at the time.
Calling him a 3rd round prospect would have been harsh at the time. _________________ Still the only UK-based Panthers fan I know...hang on a minute...I might be the only one IN the UK! |
