Rolando McClain’s turbulent NFL career is coming to an end at the age of 23.

The Ravens placed the inside linebacker and former first-round pick on the reserve/retired list Wednesday afternoon, General Manager Ozzie Newsome announced.

Uh, wow. That was unexpected. I guess it hurts the Ravens depth a bit.

Hopefully the guy straightens his life out and tries to come back in 2 years time or so. A lot of wasted talent otherwise.

Such a shame. I think he would've been cool. Wanted to see what we missed out on couple years back. Good luck to him in retirement.

Rolando McClain is still only 23-years old, to think that he was the 8th overall pick in the draft in 2010 by the Raiders to where he is now is really something...

He's going to Hollywood to try an acting career. He already has plans to be a reoccurring character on the hit TV show, "Cops."

Ravens should get Urlacher, he's a good leader replacement for Ray Lewis. I always said this from day one when Urlacher was a free agent.

I get the feeling that he'll try and make a come back somewhere along the line. That being said, he had a myriad of issues that had nothing to do with football and I hope that he gets those resolved with haste. His life seemed to very much be one a downward trajectory.

He's about the same age as a lot of incoming rookies still, wow. So many poor decisions, what a shame.
