felix jones always seemed to play well against us for some reason so at least he can't do that anymore for dallas.

"I just felt like when I took my visit here in Philadelphia it kind of fit me. I'm excited to be an Eagle," said Jones. "I was trying to really see what's out there. When I visited the Eagles, I got to know the coaches and figured out the system and how things are going to be going. I liked it. I felt like it fit me."

I wonder if playing Dallas twice a year (or more) and influencing their season had any impact on his decision. I'll take any shoulder chips Wink

True that. I remember him returning a KO on MNF in that barn burner one year. Then he gashed us for 150+ yards on the ground in the playoffs.

But, he's an Eagle for this season.

On another note, Felix is just there for competition, that's it.

Nice contract for you guys.

And a few of you are missing the point as to WHY Dallas is so happy. It has little to do with the fact he was a bust - hell a 3rd RB for you isn't bad on the cheap side. But it has EVERYTHING to do with the fact that now Dallas has zero chance of re-signing him.

Happy, happy days!

One man's trash is another mans treasure sometimes. As happy as you are he won't be a Cowboy pail's in comparison to the happiness we as eagles fans have had watching Dallas waste a 1st rd pick and the past 5 years trying to make it work. Felix is a Camp body with the opportunity to push Polk/Masonett for a spot. That alone was worth the signing so neither player could assume anything or get comfortable. If Kelly truely believes in competition this signing should surprise no one. Will I be surprised he makes the roster if 4 RB's are kept, no because of his ST abilities. Will I be surprised if the Eagles keep 3 RB's and he is one of them, absolutely. Keep drafting Jerry, keep drafting!

Didn't even catch that when I initially read that post. Laughing

While we're speaking about McNutt, he's someone I really believed could catch on as a #4-#5 WR here in Philly; I really liked him in college. Oh well, I'm interested to see if he ends up anywhere else.

McNutt is truly such an unfortunate name. Unforgiving on so many levels. Marvin is lucky he was good at football.

Update to these figures:

Felix Jones gets $32.5 K guaranteed (SB) in his 1-year deal with the Eagles, per source. $32.5 K more if he's on the 46-man roster game 1

This is a no-risk, high reward move.

Yeah, and he doesnt need to be healthy for 20-25 carries for 16 games which is pretty much been the main issue with him in Dallas.

Here's a hypothetical breakdown of what we could expect to see from our RB's this season:

http://igglesblitz.com/philadelphia-eagles-2/felix-jones-added/
Quote:
Last year the Eagles ran 67 plays a game. That breakdown might go like this. Shady was the RB for 50. Brown for 10. The other 7 would be empty sets or some odd formation with a WR in the backfield.
Quote:
Kelly hopes to run 75 to 80 plays a game. He might have Shady on the field for 45 snaps, the backup 20, and the #3 RB for 10. These are just guesstimates, but it gives you an idea of how things will be different.
