Quote:
McNabb confirmed Monday on his radio show on NBC Sports Radio that he will be retiring as an Eagle in September. He said the team has suggested doing it on the 19th when Reid, the man who selected him with the second overall pick in the 1999 draft, will be there. The Eagles have not yet made an official announcement, and did not return a message asking for a comment.

He was holding hope a team would want him.

I think it was more he didn't want to make it formal until he know there was no longer interest in him.

I wish him well!

He wasn't much of a QB during his older years, but he was awesome for Reid back in the day.

and he was a very good man too. Hope he enjoys life after football!

I feel he was put in an unfortunate environment in his career. He wasn't given much because I feel like he could have been HOF material. The way the fans and media portrayed his reputation was so off base and unfair. Yet, he took it like a man and played through it all. One of the toughest and strongest QBs I've seen in my time.

Yeah in his last year with Philly, when DeSean was a rookie.

Thought he was retired already. That said, Mcnabb had a good career, all the best to him in retirement.

Living in south Jersey, I watched a lot of him over the years. Say what you want about him, but he was flat out special in his prime. There was a time where he was in the discussion of being a Top 3 QB. Would've been nice to see how good he could've been without all the early injuries. Easily the best Quarterback to ever play for the Eagles. While he seemed a bit whiny in Washington (probably due to frustration about his declining skills), he was always a class act in Philadelphia.

Good luck in retirement, Donovan.
