Hayden looked average last year..

Is there any chance one of

Z.Bowman
Isiah Frey
C.J Wilson
Sherrick McManis
Hardin (wildcard)

beat him out?

I watched some tape on Isiah Frey and was very impressed from what I saw. I know it's a huge leap from practice squad to starting NB but could it happen?

I'm not too happy about the lack of depth we have..

I doubt it. He played pretty well. We really have no one to compete with him. Hardin isnt a CB.

Bowman never seemed like a nickel corner to me, particularly since his tackling sucks. Hardin is not playing nickel. The others haven't really shown anything, but they could possibly beat out Hayden. They would have to really shine in training camp and preseason and be a good fit at the position. I wasn't that impressed with Hayden last year but he wasn't bad either and he's a veteran in the system.

If you think about it, he is really more of a CB than a Safety just due to his experience. Although they picked him up to play safety, he was, and still is, nothing more than a project.

I highly doubt anyone beats out Hayden for NB. And I don't know what you were watching, Hayden played pretty well for us last year.

He's not a CB in the NFL.

True. He's not anything in the NFL but a guy who played a game and a half of preseason.

I think itís all going to be about matchups at nickel backÖI think Hayden will play the majority of snaps and will line up over traditional slots but I see Hardin being used against teams with more athletic TEs and teams that come out in two TE sets.

Apparently Isiah Frey is one of the stand outs of the mini camps so far.

Nothing about Hayden wows you so I expect him to face some serious competition.

While I love the physical aspects (6'3", 217 lbs, 4.43 speed, 35 in vert, stronger than any of our CBs) of Hardin lining up to cover some of the very skilled receiving TEs we will face, I doubt they will want to do so. He will be rotating in at safety a fair amount I expect.

I do hope someone proves to be a better option over Hayden, that was one of my concerns when we got him, I like him as the #4 CB, but not as a nickel. Just have to wait and see.

That certainly makes more sense than never considering him at the position. Isn't it about having the best 11 players on the field at any given time? Hardin may not be a guy that you want covering the quick guys over the middle. However, he is fast and could potentially match up quite well with TE's. I would be really surprised if they did not at least have him line up at the spot from time-to-time in camp unless Tucker just flat-out saw something on tape that he believes negates any potential at the position. I am of the belief that the limited body of work he has would not make such a decision possible. Need more data.

On the contrary, it's funny BECAUSE it's true.
