He definitely has a good chance to make the roster, as opposed to most UDFA. Rivera also seemed to notice him, which is a positive.

Another DB (White) was impressive -- he could be a CB or S. I think one makes the roster.

Both were impressive. Both should make the roster.

CB Norman
CB Florence
CB Munnerlyn
CB Moore

S Godfrey
S Lester
S Mitchell

FIGHTING FOR 1 SPOT
CB Thomas
S/CB White
S Campbell

None are locks to make it with a new GM especially a UDFA, and you left out a few people there Collin Jones is ST guy and James Dockery played good at the end of last year.

Josh Thomas is more of a lock than some of your choices. He played well at the end of last year and he's been publicly praised by Rivera.

I think Josh Thomas probably makes the roster also. I thought he and Dockery showed a lot of promise the last few games. I know Colin Jones contributes on special teams....but honestly I just think DJ Campbell & Mike Mitchell will play well & make him expendable. Campbell I'm hoping we can stash on the practice squad if he is cut.

Obviously no player that is not an elite contributor is ever a "lock" new GM or not...but the talent level and experience of those CB's I have making the team is invaluable to having a successful DB unit. I think those guys will all surprise a lot of people.

Here's how I see the seconary breaking down when we start the season.

CB1 - Drayton Florence
CB2 - Josh Norman
Nickle - Captain Munnerlyn

CB Reserves - Josh Thomas, James Dockery

FS - Mike Mitchell
SS - Charles Godfrey

Safety Reserves - DJ Campbell, Robert Lester

I also think there's a chance we keep a 5th safety over 6th or 7th line backer due to the pass happy division we are in, which makes that final spot between Colin Jones and Sherrod Martin as the veteran back there.

Martin is no longer with the team.

Your right, totally forgot he was a FA.

Last I heard he visited KC several weeks ago.

No D.J. Moore?

I'm losing it. Sheesh. DJ Moore is probably one of our CB reserves.

I think if Norman steps it up he's #1 if not he slides to #4 with Moore at #2.

The truth is, we do not know. The coaches do not know. Based on what I know, here is how I see it--

CB
Dockery: He is over six feet tall and played well at the end of the season. We have short CBs for the most part.
Thomas: He is a starting #2 CB. He is better than Norman right now. He was always a project, and now that patience is paying off.
Norman: Will always be limited, but those limitations will be hidden if we get pressure on the CB. Norman is a ball hawk, and ball hawks need pressure on the CB.
Munnerlyn: A very solid, underrated nickel.
Moore: A ball-hawking CB who could play S in a pinch. Notice how we have ball hawks now? Because we expect to pressure the QB.
Florence: Our only veteran, a CB with good size.
S
Godfrey: Godfrey is a bit overpaid and a bit underproductive. Maybe the new DL will change him and make him a solid FS.
Nakamura: I do not see how he can make the roster.
Jones: Special teams ace, no value as a FS.
Mitchell: A lot of folks have his slated as the starting SS, but I say, “Not so fast.” Mitchell is a decent SS, but he is not better than Lester.
Lester: I think he will start.
Campbell: Campbell played fairly well last year and is good on special teams. If Mitchell does not win the starting job, he will not beat out Campbell as the top reserve.
If I were the coach (based on what I think I know right now) , I would do this TO START THE SEASON:
FS: Godfrey, DJ Moore (crazy, huh?) Jones
SS: Lester, Campbell
CB: Florence, Norman
CB: Thomas, Dockery, Munnerlyn (nickel)
CUT: Nakamura, Mitchell
PRACTICE SQUAD: CB/S Melvin White
