I saw that PFT is doing a Mt. Rushmore for every team, and I was curious who would be on your Lions Mt. Rushmore.

For me it would be Barry Sanders, Bobby Lane, "Night Train" Lane, and Calvin Johnson.

I know it might be too early for Calvin, but barring any injury, he's pretty much a lock to go down as the greatest receiver in Lions history.

Depends on ERA and criteria

All time probably go Bobby Layne, Joe Schmidt and Barry Sanders

Old era I would go Bobby Layne, Night Train Lane and Joe Schmidt

Mid Era Barry Sanders, Herman Moore, Billy Sims

Now Barry Sanders, Jason Hanson and Calvin

I think Barry, Bobby Layne, and Schmidt are probably locks. I think Calvin is on or close to being on. Hanson has a strong case too. Plenty of older guys like Night Train Lane, karras, Charlie Sanders, Lem Barney, and others could make a case.

My Lions Mt. Rushmore would be Barry Sanders, Calvin Johnson, Bobby Lane, and Jason Hanson.

No mention of HOF'ers - LeBeau and Chris Spielman?

Edit- Wow. So apparently F'F' edits out somebody's first name that is also a euphemism.

Just call him "Chuckles" LeBeau. That's what I do.

Speilman is in the college football HOF, not the NFL version. He is one of my favorite players but everyone else mentioned is in the NFL hall of fame. LeBeau could definitely be added to the list of potential 4th people.

Barry is the only lock. My guess is that they'll use more recent players and make the Lions Mt. Rushmore consist of Barry Sanders, Herman Moore, Jason Hanson, and Calvin Johnson.

Joe Schmidt far greater then Spielman. No comparison really. Schmidt was the best Det has ever had at position

Barry Sanders, the best player the franchise has ever had, and arguably the best running back that has ever played.

Bobby Layne, undoubtedly the best quarterback the franchise has ever had.

Joe Schmidt, the best defender the team has ever had.

Calvin Johnson, the best receiver the Lions have ever had. He hasn't yet eclipsed any of Herman Moore's franchise records, but he will soon. The only one he might not beat is Herman Moore's receptions record, but that has only been surpassed once in the history of the league. He was only one reception short last year, though.

If they don't allow active players on Mount Rushmore, I'd go with Night Train Lane.

Shouldn't it be Scott Mitchell, Andre Ware, Charles Rogers and Matt Millen to represent the pain and ssuffering we have experienced as Lions fans.

Scott Mitchell wouldn't be on that list. Despite the fact that he wasn't that good, he is probably one of the Lions' four or five best quarterbacks of all time, as sad as that is. Chuck Long or Joey Harrington would probably be better nominations if you want an anti-Mount Rushmore.

NFL Network actually put him on their list of top ten lefty quarterbacks, believe it or not.
