small quibble... he was 23rd on their board, but he had a 2nd round grade.

If anything Dallas didn't get enough. You should get way more than a third round pick to move down thirteen spots in the first round.

Not according to the Harvard draft chart, which there's substantial, if circumstantial, evidence Dallas uses.

Whether they do or not, the Harvard Chart values 1st round picks less and mid round picks more; which seems like the appropriate chart to use for a draft that is short on first round talent but long on mid-round value.

Whatever makes you Dallas fans feel better. But you certainly didn't get enough to move down 13 picks.

By comparison the Niners got a third round pick by moving down just five picks in the second round.

I'm a Dallas fan and I would be mad about the trade but to me that 3rd rounder was basically a 2nd cause imo Terrance Williams was one of the highest rated 2nd round players we happened to STEAL in the 3rd!

Im sure carolina fans thought the same thing about Everette brown

the bolded is exactly why I think the cowboys didnt get a good deal. sure, the charts said it was fair for both sides, but i think with the rookie wage scale first round picks are more valuable than ever and thirteen spots is a lot to drop no matter which way you slice it and dice it. when i thought we traded up I thought it was going to be a 3rd and a 5th.

so you are telling me if they were drafting 23rd and all 22 players they had rated higher were gone that they would have traded back instead of drafting him? seems silly to me. what if you cant find anyone to trade with? then you are stuck or you end up getting a bad deal like the one the cowboys got, although I know this was agreed to before hand.

Reid is going to be the best S out of this class imo. he has all of the physical tools you look for and is a great tackler - which is honestly the most important thing that I look for in defenders, especially at S where you are required to clean up in space. I think he had a down year last year because he was trying to do too much, he wont be asked to do a lot on the niners defense because of the supporting cast, so I think he excels. I think people forget that goldson didnt come into his own until the current niners coaching staff came into power, donatell is very good at developing secondary guys. I like what reid brings to the table. hes going to be a good pro for a long time. we got our guy, at the end of the day it doesnt matter where a guy was drafted or what you gave up to get him

I thought they were at least going to get one of our second round picks. I bet Baalke was laughing at Jerry Jones after the trade.

I'll just say I'm very happy the Niners didn't land Cyprien. I'm very confident he'll be the best safety from this class.

only 13 1st rounders signed? I know there is a wage scale, but camp starts in like 10 days-2 weeks right? I feel like we are much farther behind than last yr

As am I. Even as a Jets fan, I think Cyprien is going to be the best defensive back from this class.

Supposedly the same with Dee Milliner, Sheldon Richardson, and Geno Smith. It's an issue that John Idzik won't budge on.

Sounds like Lombardi is the same way.

Don't necessarily like that though.
