Figured we could use somewhere to talk about the happenings before TC starts, which begins in only 78 more days!

Tomorrow starts the first of 5 practices for rookies and 1st year eligible players i.e. Keenum and Supernaw (kinda why I think we brought in Klein, since you can't have 1 qb to take all those reps).

That and because Jake the Snake has been working with him. Maybe he has helped him some. Will be interesting to see. Im excited for this mini camp of rookies. See where they are and see some action for the first time this year.

Anyone else think he is here exclusively to remind our coverage teams of the complete abortion they were last year (he ran TD back in Colts game straight up the middle untouched). I still fail to see how Marciano has a job after this play pretty much cost us a bye week and home field in the playoffs.

I think I finally figured out these picks. They wanted to make sure all those Mario Williams jersey's could still be sold at Academy. Much cheaper to slap a T or B on there than have to ship em all to he Ivory Coast or Ross Dress for Less.

Also, did anyone catch our potential all Aggie kicking battery. Lechler + Bullock with McGee holding. Perhaps Kubiak is signaling detente with his alma mater that spurned him for the HC gig?

yep - May is a great sports month...

Sounds like Nuk stole the show making some highlight reel catches, hopefully someone got video of them.

Montgomery left practice early with a tight back.

Anyone want to lay odds on anyone mentioned here making the 53 (not including draft picks)? I'll give Cam Collins a shot mostly based on position scarcity and PS status last year.

I'm most interested in watching the battle for RB3 in camp. Dennis Johnson and Cierre Wood are likely the frontrunners and I'll give DJ the upper hand as he also is a Forsett-like returner. Both were projected as high as the 4th round so I expect nothing less than a typical Shanny-Kubiak find at RB here.

FYI - Matthews claim to fame is getting arrested with Vaccaro and Okafor outside a pizza joint in Austin. You older guys may remember Steinkuhler's dad, Dean was a 2nd overall pick by the Oilers back in the day, but never quite lived up to Matthews/Munchak

Expecting to see about 20 similar posts over the next few months. I'll go ahead and put Montgomery (3rd, #95) in the early running for the highest Texans (Smith-iak era) pick to NOT make the roster (Anthony Hill was 4th #122 and Roc Carmichael was 4th #127 before they got their IR resort passes).

The Montgomery injury wasnt that serious. Kubiak said he should be fine. What I like about Montgomery is that he was willing to resume practicing after the injury.

Also, based on tweets Trevardo Williams has been impressive rushing off the edge, and Hopkins did a little stare at DJ Swearinger after he made a catch. Awesome! Laughing

I can see Mondek making it and Quessenberry going to the PS. Kubiak doesn't tend to keep low round o-lineman on the roster in year 1.

For what reason exactly?

Wouldnt surprise me to see Montgomery get that IR resort this year.

YES! HT.com posted a vid of the practice!

http://www.houstontexans.com/tv-media/videos/First-Look-Rookie-minicamp-practice/dcfb7e68-552b-4e2e-bc74-c42b18fc5b89

around 0:24 is when Hopkins starts his route to the one-handed catch.

Just the sight of Texans jerseys running around the field gets me pumped!
