Welcome to the 5th Annual KCFMD, where every team is made up and the points don't matter. That's right, the points are exactly like Matt Cassel's intangibles. People say they exist but at the end of the day, they don't.

Quote:
What are you talking about?
Every year for a while now, the Chiefs forum has a "fantasy" draft. Essentially, each poster creates their own "team" by drafting 24 NFL players to "play" for them. As it is your team, you are free to shape the team how you wish - you can run a West Coast Offense and a 3-4, or a Run-Based Offense with a Nickel defense. Up to you to choose your own schemes and draft your own players!

Do we win money for this?
No, the draft is just for fun! It's sort of like throwing every player into a pool and picking your own team. If you want an offense with Peyton Manning throwing the ball to Randy Moss and Jordy Nelson, power to you man, draft that way! There will be a competition of sorts for judging the "winners", but in the end this is for fun only. More on that in a bit.

When does this draft start?
The draft itself will start at a time to be detemined and will work as a snake. The drafting order will be randomized when the GM cap is hit. The draft will work in twelve-hour intervals: one team will get twelve hours to make a pick before moving on to the next poster. I'm debating whether or not to make the first couple of rounds a bit shorter to speed up the process, but the twelve-hour slotting will be pretty casual and not allow many to fret over getting the pick in on time. And if you won't be there for your time period, you can always PM the big board to me.

How long will this take?
It won't be a one-week-and-done thing. Being a GM will require patience and a little bit of commitment, but this is a very fun experience. If you're trying to decide if you want to sign-up, take into account the length of previous drafts. If you are inactive, you will be booted.

So... this sounds kinda cool. But when you say drafting to schemes, do I really have to do that?
You don't have to draft to a scheme specifically, but post-draft it's always fun talking about how you envision your team to function.

Do I get to draft a coaching staff?
Yes, there will be an optional draft for that. The terms for this draft are as follows:

Quote:
1. There will be three rounds. You get one pick in each round, to take a coach of your choice. You must have a head coach, offensive coordinator, and defensive coordinator, but the order you pick them is completely up to you.

2. The draft will be in snake-order, but inverse to the player draft's snake. Meaning if Team A has the #1 overall pick in the player draft, they will have the last pick in the first round of the coaching draft. Savvy?

3. Again, this draft is optional and will go down in a period of a couple of days. Dates will be determined.

Alright. I'm down for this. But what if I miss my time slot?
In the players draft, you will be passed over for the next team. You can still make your pick, but any player taken in the time period from missed-to-present will be unavailable for your selection. In essence, you snooze you lose. This shouldn't be too big of a problem, as you can always PM me your big board of targeted players, and this is laid-back too. Again, if you are inactive, you will be booted.

So, you said something about a competition? I am engrossed. Elaborate.
This draft is just for fun, but there will be a GM's Choice Award. Each GM (aka poster) will vote on who they think has the best team in our fun little league. Thing is, can't vote for yourself! There will be three categories: best all-around team, best offense, and best defense. The "winner" of this ring is decided by the first option, but having the moniker of best offense with your fantasy team is a nice consolation prize, right? This will be voted on post-draft, and all votes must be submitted by PM to me.

In 2011 I did a Madden sim with all the teams, but last year I wasn't able to, due to how Madden 13 was set up. If I am able to do a season sim in a simple and unobtrusive way, I will, but for now the GM's Choice Award will be it.

Again, if you think you're going to be inactive in spite of the 12-hour timeslots, try not to sign up. I don't want to punish those who are active.

Also, if people choose to do the 53-man extension, have at it. Again, I will be not participating in that. Laughing

I figured it out, I'm drafting all left handed players, so that the RT is the most important person besides the QB.

After having the best team over the past 2 or 3 years I can't miss this one! Wink

Although from June 17- July 5 Ill be doing some intense training for the military where I won't be online for 5 days straight at some point. I'll just send a BB or let my pick be skipped.

Now excuse me as I make my big board of domination...

And opposing offenses will continue to exploit your weak secondaries, yes?

My OL last year would have given Cutler time to carve your defense up.
