Just got off the phone w Ronde Barber who told me he is officially retiring. "I've had a better run than I ever could've dreamed of having."

16 years and 47 INTs, Barber had a great run, was the last player from that great 2003 Bucs defense who won them the Superbowl.

I'm in shock he left. I know he didn't have a real role left once we signed Goldson, that was echoed when we drafted banks, still I thought he would come back and play with Revis and Goldson and try and make one more push.

I don't know the Bucs without Ronde, this is a very weird feeling. It just won't feel right NOT seeing Ronde on the field.

Best of luck to him, an amazing player on the field and even better person off the field. Loved hearing him talk and his wisdom he had on everything. One of the most underrated players ever for what he brought to the Bucs and the game. Best nickel corner ever, and don't think that anyone will ever come close. Could blitz like a linebacker, had a nose for the football, and his instincts were out of this world.

I'm gonna miss you #20

I know some disagree, but this guy is a Hall of Famer. I think if it was his choice, he would come back with one more shot at a title but I doubt the Bucs wanted him back since he no longer has any role with the team. Enjoy retirement, Ronde.

Sad. I saw the writing on the wall when we took Banks, but still. Good luck Ronde. You'll play forever in Donovan McNabb's nightmares.

Only player in NFL history with 40 interceptions+ and 20 sacks+.

Led the league in interceptions.

5 time all pro.

215 consecutive starts is the longest streak for a defensive player since the merger.

Biggest play in Bucs history.

HOF career IMO.

I can watch this over and over and over again. Easily the most iconic play of our franchise.

You will be missed, Ronde.

Do you guys think he will make it into the Hall of Fame?

I think he does. Dude was amazing in his prime. As others mentioned, he's in the 20-20 club.

Enjoy retirement, Ronde.
