According to reporters there was buzz about this Paul Hazel guy. I did my research on him. The guy is 6'5 230 now. He ran a 10.7 in the 100 meters. That explains his burst. The reporter were talking about his quick first step. Not gonna say he's the next sack master, but I'm gonna keep look out for him. I went to the Notre Dame game . He recored 8 Tackles 3 TFL and 2 sacks in the first half. Anyone has more info on this guy.

I'm assuming that with those measurables, he's very raw or he would have been drafted.

I remember seeing hazel against UCONN and he was unblockable at times.

I am pretty juiced that he could make the squad. needs to bulk up a bit but if he was stronger he would have been drafted haha.

excited to see how it turns out

Chris Clemons plays at about 240 lbs.
Bruce Irvin played at 250 lbs.

Hazel needs to add about 10 lbs but as a situational guy, if he works out, he'll be fine.

10 pounds but he needs to learn technique and leverage, thats how those guys can play at that size

10.7 in the 100 meters? Translate that to the 40 yard dash what would his time be?

You can't translate 100 times to 40 times. Two different acceleration rates and top speeds can get the same 100 time, but will result in completely different 40 times.

I'm assuming the top-speed would be much higher for the 100m because the 40 time you get is crazy

A 40 yard split would be pretty bad by combine standards. But if you take the last 40 yards, the elite sprinters would flirt with 3 seconds.

Regardless, a 10.7 isn't all that great.

The acceleration is just a smaller percentage of the whole.

Let's say someone's top speed is 15mps, and they accelerate (I'm changing this from the actual physics to numbers that are easily quantifiable) up to full speed in 25 meters. That means that roughly their average speed for the time they're accelerating is 8.5mps.

This person's times would be
40: 4.333 seconds
100: 8.333 seconds

And that's assuming they can stay at top speed for the full 100 meters (not likely at that pace). But that gives you a really vague idea of how it's impossible to convert 100 times to 40 times.

Usain Bolt is the fastest man on the planet at 100 and 200m, but his 40 time is pretty pedestrian compared to other athletes.

They're two completely different skills, and honestly neither one of them is important for a pass rusher. 10 yard split >>>>>> for a pass rusher. I want to know how quickly they can accelerate from the LOS to the Quarterback.

EDIT: That's for 40 and 100 meters. Still gives you an idea of how far off the numbers can be though.

Mojo you are right 4.55 is what I got as well. All those who think a 10.7 isn't fast think now the guy is 6'5 225 running that. That's very impressive.

But it doesn't matter. How many times will he get to run 100 meters in the NFL? Once if he's lucky?
