Vikings Rookie camp begins today, and I thought it would be a nice to have a place to discuss the many youtes we have.

Here's one to start...

As expected, #Vikings are now listing LaMark Brown as a receiver. Worked there last year even though he was listed as a tight end.

LaMark actually played here for MNSU for a year after transferring from Kansas State.

Big guy - 6'3 220 lbs.

Apparently #Vikings did post 34-man tryout list on their website. Just didn't give it to us. Two are QBs: Dayne Crist and Wyatt Hanus.

I hope there's some strong competition for WR.

Outside of Patterson, Wright and Jennings (Who I expect will all outcompete the rest of their competition), I'd say we leave the last 2 spots open, and let the best man win.

Same for 3rd string RB and 5th string CB.

Michael Mauti is jogging around out here. Nothing really intense but he's moving ok all things considered.

Lots of open competitions.... here is what I see:

QB3: Joe Webb, McLoud Bethel-Thompson, James Vandenberg, Dayne Crist
RB3: Matt Asiata, Joe Banyard, Jerodis Williams, Zach Line
WR5/6: Greg Childs, Stephen Burton, Chris Summers, Rodney Smith, Erik Highsmith, Nick Edwards, Lamark Brown, Duron Carter
OL8: Jeff Baca, Seth Olsen, Travis Bond, Tyler Holmes, Troy Kropog, Kevin Murphy, Camden Wentz, Mark Jackson

DE4: D’Aundre Reed, Lawrence Jackson, George Johnson, Marquis Jackson
LB5/6: Audie Cole, Michael Mauti, Tyrone McKenzie, Larry Dean, Nathan Williams
CB5/6: Jacob Lacey, Marcus Sherels, Brandon Burton, Bobby Felder, Greg McCoy, Roderick Williams
S5: Andrew Sendejo, Brandan Bishop, Darius Eubanks

I don't see any way either of the last two make it to training camp.

RB3: Matt Asiata, Joe Banyard, Jerodis Williams, Zach Line

Initially I thought Line was going to be a more FB type, and that Williams would be the main competition for Asiata's job. However, Line falls more in line with the skillsets of Gerhart and Asiata than Williams does, and wouldn't be surprised if the coaches give him the job. Either way, I think both Williams and Line make practice squad, at worst.

WR5/6: Greg Childs, Stephen Burton, Chris Summers, Rodney Smith, Erik Highsmith, Nick Edwards, Lamark Brown, Duron Carter

I don't think Burton, Summers, or Brown have a chance. Carter is a longshot too, but I can see him making practice squad over the previous three.

OL8: Jeff Baca, Seth Olsen, Travis Bond, Tyler Holmes, Troy Kropog, Kevin Murphy, Camden Wentz, Mark Jackson

It depends on what we need. If we need interior, Baca or Olsen. If we need a tackle, Kropog or Jackson.

DE4: D’Aundre Reed, Lawrence Jackson, George Johnson, Marquis Jackson

I give Lawrence Jackson the edge.

LB5/6: Audie Cole, Michael Mauti, Tyrone McKenzie, Larry Dean, Nathan Williams

I think Mauti is in. One of Cole or McKenzie is in. If Cole, I think Dean stays as 7th LB. Williams is PS at best.

CB5/6: Jacob Lacey, Marcus Sherels, Brandon Burton, Bobby Felder, Greg McCoy, Roderick Williams

I think it goes to Lacey and one of Sherels/Felder (dependent on Patterson's return abilities early). If Patterson takes both, its Felder. If not, we keep Sherels.

S5: Andrew Sendejo, Brandan Bishop, Darius Eubanks

I said it in my mock 53-man, but I think Bishop makes it over Raymond, not over Sendejo. Especially if Cole is picked over McKenzie.

I don't think the Vikings cut a player with starting experience, that they drafted, in favor of Sendejo. Raymond has just as much ability to contribute on special teams.

Sendejo isn't anything special.

Travis Bond at right tackle, Jeff Baca at right guard here at rookie camp. Telling they're starting off there. #Vikings

Just my gut feeling. I think with possibly cutting McKenzie or Dean they'll want to keep Sendejo. And I like Bishop more than Raymond.

McKenzie is likely making this team just based on special teams ability. Was our special teams ace and was high up on the NFL list for special teams solo tackles with 11.

Unless Mauti is 100% good to go and is able to win a job, he's likely going to start the season on PUP.

Robert Blanton was a better special teams player than Sendejo and Raymond is the top backup at both safety positions.

Even in install you can see the explosion with Patterson. He's such a smooth mover too.

First one on one against Xavier Rhodes and he intercepts it. It's a start.
