Agreed that McKinnie is going to see every opportunity to be the starting LT. I don't outright trust McKinnie. I think he's only good for being motivated by some external factor and for a string of a few games at a time.

I hope McKinnie proves me wrong and plays like how he's capable of playing throughout next season... then we could have a truly dominant offensive line to allow our young receivers some extra time to make plays... and for Flacco to find them.

But my expectations aren't high. I expect McKinnie to start the season off with 3-4 awesome games as he'll be motivated by proving he should be the starter so that he can see his incentive moneys... and then we'll see him get lazy and get Flacco killed a few times due to effort over the next three games. Then he'll put together a nice game in some notable prime time game so everyone thinks he's awesome that don't normally watch... only for him to fail a couple games... and the pattern continues until the playoffs, where he should probably perform well throughout as he'll have the big lights and cameras on him at all times- which the potential embarrassment of getting owned on national television should drive him to play well.

So at the very least, I expect McKinnie to play well in the games that REALLY matter, but that's about as good a compliment as I can give him... along with the fact that his presence should allow us to keep Osemele at LG.

Apparently Bryant McKinnie followed up on his word and decided to report to the voluntary offseason workout.

Bryant McKinnie article wrote:
I agreed to play lower than last year, and last year I was at 352, said McKinnie, who stands at 6-foot-8. The older you get, the more they want you to lose, but the harder it is. But Im going to just do it. I have a gameplan this year and I have people in place that will help me. Im really dedicated to do it because I really want to do it for myself and I just really want to play at that weight and play at a high level.

I don't want to jump the gun... as he can always decide to get lazy later on. But if he's going to really commit himself to dominating which seems to be the case... our OL unit can really shape up very nicely.

Because when McKinnie is focused, he can neutralize some of the best pass rushing talent that the league has to offer. Seeing his commitment, is making me excited for what we might have with this OL. I just hope these guys can stay healthy.
