The Mini camp will take place at Redskins Park on Thursday, and practices will take place Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In attendance will be our seven draft picks, the undrafted rookies that we signed, as well as a collection of players trying out for roster spots. No one is sure yet which players will be in attendance other than the drafted rookies, undrafred rookies and the few named in this article who are coming in for a try out.

Penn State Qb- Matt McGloin
Michigan G- Ricky Barnum
Arkansas State Qb- Ryan Aplin
McNeese State CB- Seth Thomas

Sometimes Rookies share numbers until they officially make the team. Even new draft picks sometimes share numbers. I remember one offseason Portis and some DB had the same number in a game (it wasn't Ifeayni Ohalete, who Portis never fully "paid" for 26)

Interesting ... did anyone here how the tryouts went? Aplin is an intriguing prospect (McGloin, not so much).

I guess I should ask about Steve Greer as well.

Did you guys know that Shawn Morris is getting a tryout?
Alfred's little brother from Birmingham Southern.

You should google him. He's got plenty of videos out there.

That would be too cool, to have the Morris brothers in the backfield. Laughing

Cool. Thanks for the heads up Ace. Maybe he plays well enough to earn a spot on the practice squad. I'll look him up.

Quote:
“Same personality, for sure,” coach Mike Shanahan told reporters on Sunday regarding Shawn Morris. “I’m not sure they both run the same. But what a quality young man.”

“What we do is have our scouts look at these players and if they think somebody has an attribute where it gives them a chance to make our football team, then we bring them in,” Shanahan said. “We brought in, like I mentioned, I believe it was 47 guys and either a scout or a coach saw something that they thought they should be in our camp and have a chance to make our football team.”

The five-foot, eight-inch Shawn Morris talked about his NFL prospects while taking part in the UAB Pro Day workout in March. “I’ve always been small and I’ve always excelled because I have the heart of a lion,” Morris said.
We'll definitely have to be look out for him this summer.

Morris ran for 1,026 yards and nine touchdowns last year. His brother is Alfred Morris, who emerged as a relative unknown to start at running back for the Redskins and help lead the team to the NFC playoffs.

Quote:
BIRMINGHAM, Ala.—Birmingham-Southern College's record-setting tailback Shawn Morris was honored Nov. 30 during halftime of the men's basketball game with Huntingdon College for his BSC and Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference-record 332 yards rushing in the Panthers' Homecoming win over Millsaps College Nov. 12.

The junior from Pensacola, Fla., finished the season with 1,449 yards rushing in just nine games—the third most in the 50-year history of the SCAC—in helping the Panthers to a 7-2 record, the most wins since football was reinstated in 2007. He also scored 17 touchdowns and caught 17 passes for another 131 yards. For his efforts he was named SCAC Offensive Player of the Year. He also was a two-time selection to the D3Football.com Team-of-the-Week.

While it's nice to hear, I'd love to hear any reports anyone can find about the other UDFAs and tryouts.

Kind of carried over from what we did [in college] at Georgia. Coach Kirk Olivadotti, who’s a linebackers coach there, used to be here, so I had a year to learn things from him, and they carried over, and I’m just taking advantage of everything and learning the scheme. Learning the scheme, learning technique and coverage, and it was all natural after that.”

well that's very cool. So all our DBs we drafted this year have dealt with our scheme at some points during their college careers. Cool
