Ok, so The Dude admittedly knows a lot more about White Russians and casual clothes than football... but post-draft, pre-OTA, I thought I'd put together my own little depth chart along with predictions... maybe estimates... uhm... educated guesses... ok, wild-arse guesses as to the final 53.

How cool is it, though, that after three years, this exercise is really only exposing a few minor weaknesses in starters and a few problems with depth, rather than the disaster that was the roster Mora was fielding (not entirely his responsibility, of course).

Here goes!

QB (2): Wilson, Portis
RB (3): Lynch, Michael(R), Turbin
FB (2): Robinson, Ware(R)
LT (2): Okung, Person/Bailey(R)
LG (2): Carpenter, Sweezy/Moffitt
C (2): Unger, Jeanpierre
RG (2): McQuistan, Moffitt/Sweezy
RT (2): Giacomini, Person/Bailey(R)
TE (3): Miller, McCoy, Willson(R)
WR (5): Rice, Harvin, Tate, Baldwin, Harper(R)
K (1): Hauschka
P (1): Ryan
LS (1): Gresham

( 28 ) Offense, Specialist

DT (5): Mebane, McDaniel, Williams(R), Hill(R), McDonald
DE (2): Bryant, Bennett
DE/LEO (3): Clemons, Avril, Powell(R)
LB (5): Wagner, Wright, Smith, Irvin, Farwell
CB (6): Sherman, Browner, Winfield, Simon(R), Thurmond, Lane
S (4): Thomas, Chancellor, Johnson, Guy

( 25 ) Defense

All things considered... I think we have minor concerns at both Guard spots and Right Tackle, though we're much better off than we were two years ago. Not real jazzed about depth at the LB or Safety spots - if we lose Wagner, Chancellor or Thomas, yowch.

Otherwise... stacked.

Me likey.

put Bruce at DE and I think we will run mostly Nickel with Cliff and Smith at LB on running/redzone plays

Yeah - I slid Irvin in as LB, since I'm hearing that we might move him that direction on passing downs - and it seemed as if we're a bit light on LB, unless one or more of the UDFA guys pan out.

Anyone know anything about Lotulelei, Wilkins or Buchanan?

I suppose Farwell or Morgan could also prove to be depth LB - kinda forgot about them.

I think Ty Powell has a better chance to get looks at LB than he does DE. Could just be me.

Also, I think the team would prefer to keep Maxwell over Thurmond. I know everyone on here loves Thurmond, myself included, but I think his time has run out. He's not dependable enough to stay on the field and he really hasn't proven to be that much better than either Maxwell or Lane when he's actually in the game, so I think we'll stick with the cheaper, healthier options. Maxwell has also shown more value on special teams. Also really hoping one of McQuistin/Moffitt/Sweezy don't make the team. Prefer to open up that spot for someone else like Jared Smith even. I doubt the team lets go of Sweezy, so it will likely be one of the first two. Considering McQuistin's positional versatility, it will likely be Moffitt if it's any of them. If everything went ideally, I'd say our starting offense line looked like Okung/Carp/Unger/Bailey/Breno, with McQuistin acting as a utility LT/OG, Lemuel as the backup center, and Sweezy as the other utility guard. Don't know why you'd need more players than that.

Other than that, I like pretty much everything you have there.

Has Pete Carroll directly said anything about moving Bruce Irvin to SLB?

Because I really like the idea of Avril tutoring Powell at LEO, Irvin playing SLB, and then K.J. Wright moving to WLB.

One of the rumors this off-season floating around about the Seattle Seahawks is the fact that the Seahawks might be moving Irvin and Cliff Avril to linebacker. Seahawks' GM John Schneider said, "Irvin can, athletically, absolutely."

No truth to this move has been made public, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Irvin take some snaps at outside linebacker next season.

I would say that he would get looks at the position during camp. Once Clem is back healthy, Cliff Avril will probably be the 3rd down DE until Clem leaves.
