I figured, since Ziggy is one of the more controversial selections in Detroit Sports since I've been following them, it would be cool to keep an official thread open dedicated to all things Ansah.

Vertical Leap: 34.5 inches
Broad Jump: 118 inches

Bill Polian: http://www.mlive.com/lions/index.ssf/2013/04/detroit_lions_new_de_ziggy_ans.html#incart_river
Quote:
"I would always ask our staff, when we got to (the point right before the draft), 'If this player is going to fail, tell me why he will fail'," Polian said on ESPN. "And when you look at Ziggy Ansah, is he going to fail because he doesn't have physical tools? No. Is he going to fail because he's not mentally tough? No. He made it in a new land all by himself. Is he going to fail because he's not intelligent? No, he's a statistics major. Is he going to fail because he doesn't have experience playing the game? Maybe...but, you can teach that."All of the other things are red flags that will cause someone to fail. He's not going to fail because of those things. He's going to succeed. And the likelihood of his success is pretty darn good."

Detroit Lions general manager Martin Mayhew is rarely forthcoming with information about his team's past, present or future draft strategy, but he dropped an interesting nugget during an interview with the team's official radio broadcast partner, 97.1-FM The Ticket, on Monday.Mayhew told the show's hosts that defensive end Ziggy Ansah was ranked third on the team's draft board. The Lions chose Ansah fifth overall. The selection was moderately controversial since the BYU product had only been playing football for three years and in a starting role less than one full season.

If he doesn't exceed career sacks this year I'm calling it a bust

Might as well start the thread with the fact that Vegas has Ziggy as the early favorite for defensive rookie of the year.

Would you call JPP a bust? He had 4.5 sacks his rookie year. How about Robert Mathis who only had 3.5? Chris Long only had 4, is it time for the Rams to cut ties with him?

Good thing Bruce Smith narrowly missed being a bust, he managed to get 6 sacks his rookie year...
