thomas and mcdonald were the only two safeties with a vistit in st.louis.

Pretty sure TJ Mac never came in for a visit.

Visits dont seem to be the deciding factor unless its the first round. Last year we brought in Brockers and this year we brought in Austin and Ogletree.

They didnt however bring in Pead, Tru Johnson, Rok, Aaron Brown or Richardson... and this years picks TJ Mac, Bailey, Jones, Mcgee or Stacy.

I love Shamarko, but if they would have felt the same they would have figured out a way to get him.

True on that but they did say Bailey worked out when they went to WV and worked out Austin as well. The commented that the QB's thought he was very good after they initially thought he was just an extra body and had no idea who he was.

i read it a day or two days ago via twitter. i don't wanna search for direct link now. but found this on google.
Quote:
The Rams brought McDonald in for a visit that left the player, who has experience at both safety spots, feeling it might be a fit.

Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/sports/2013/04/27/rams-draft-usc-safety-tj-mcdonald-in-nfl-draft-add-another-wva-wr-in-bailey/#ixzz2S6grAwUo

and bailey had a visit too.
Quote:
Bailey also made a pre-draft visit to Rams Park, although not on the same day as Austin.

“That was about two days before they came to Morgantown to work me and Tavon out,” Bailey said on a conference call Friday with reporters.

the source for the bailey visit: http://www.stltoday.com/sports/football/professional/rams-take-another-west-virginia-receiver/article_609c5497-02fd-504e-ad5d-2114c3a78da2.html

we only knew about 22 visist, but every teams will use 30. so no big deal, if we didn't hear about every visit pre draft.

after two drafts you can predict for the future. if you are a big name and you don't get a visit with the rams, you're not gonna wear the horns...

i bet the steelers made the deal with the browns because they had a feeling the rams were high on him.
and i don't think the rams were big in the ol-market. warford was the only guy they brought in (5 visists are unknown). but if they were really into it, why don't interview warmack and cooper at the hq? they gave williams a nice deal before the draft. and listen to fisher, he was kinda pretty low down on barrett jones after the pick. i have a feeling the rams are ok with the pick cause he's kind of a robert turner 2.0 and that's fine.
but i can't believe the rams front office masterplan was to go into the season with mcdonald and darain stewart at s.
even a fit d.stewart couldn't beat out craig dahl at s!

last year the rams missed kendrycks and wagner, cause snead wanted this 5.rounder back. so they were forced to take pead. happens all the time.
this year the steelers came in two spots before the rams to take thomas.
last year we got brockers and jenkins and this year austin and the picks back, we used in the trade to get austin.

you win, you lose.

They could have won last year if they took the guy I wanted...Lavonte David.

You guys dont think it could have been DeAndre Hopkins?

I wondered if they would go Hopkins at 30 if he was still available. But then Fisher admitted (I think it was the day 2 press conference?) that he never actually flew out to Clemson for a workout. He may have been joking though.

I really think it was Shamarko. Mattheiu would be my second guess.

Dont think they wanted DeAndre at all. Too many reports of his visits. Was a big ol smoke screen to hide the fact we wanted Tavon. Jeff Fisher never saw DeAndre, contrary to reports.

Their top 4 guys were Tavon, Vaccaro, Fluker, and Ogletree. They had to get two of them and they did.

Well that pick would have been less surprising if this was better known.

I think I solved the mystery. Reading Peter King's article about the draft room, he says they were prepared to take Warford with the 30th pick if Ogletree was off the board. If they were that high on him, it would make sense for them to be disappointed when he got picked a few spots before them in the 3rd round.

if they were so high on him, that he was plan b for ogletree and he would be the pick 30, why wait until nearly the mid third round? this is pretty hard for me to believe.
