So this was the first draft class of our new regime, so it is probably a bit premature, and we won’t have a better feel for this until after two of three draft classes, but what are some of the differences and similarities you guys noticed between the draft strategies of Arians/Keim and Whisenhunt/Graves?
Similarities
1. The LSU connection…Whisenhunt/Graves drafted a lot of LSU products, and that trend was continued this weekend.
2. small school projects. Whisenhunt/Graves always drafted one small school guy a year it seems, and with the addition of Earl Watford, that trend lives on.
3. Defense in round two. Ryan Williams is the only offensive player we have drafted in round two since Duece Lutui in 2006(the last Dennis Green draft)

Differences
1. I stole this from Khodder, but in one draft class, Arians/Keim have drafted more lineman in the top 150 picks than Whisenhunt/Graves did in six…
2. More active in terms of trading. We traded back twice. Once in round two, and again in round four. Whisenhunt/Graves did some trading, they traded up for Alan Branch and Daryl Washington, and they traded down for OBSCHO…but that is three trades in six years, and average of one trade every other year. Arians/keim are averaging two a year.

Whisenhunt/GRaves also traded back into the draft via Bryant McFadden to draft John Skelton.

Also, no Big 10 players this year.

That is a difference for me.

Skewed towards ACC (like we always do) and SEC.
