A thread to bookmark so we can look back three years from now and see how stupid we all really are.

The rules:

Using each pick Green Bay actually made, take a player YOU would have taken there WITHOUT knowing how the rest of the draft turned out. And, of course, you can't take guys who were already gone...

109 - David Bakhtiari
122 - JC Tretter
125 - Johnathan Franklin
159 - Micah Hyde
167 - Josh Boyd
193 - Nate Palmer
216 - Charles Johnson
224 - Kevin Dorsey
232 - Sam Barrington

Incog's Choices

159 - Jordan Poyer
167 - Bacarri Rambo
193 - Da'Rick Rogers
216 - Michael Buchanan
224 - Matt Scott
232 - David Bass

WR corps: Nelson // Cobb // Jones // Patton // King // Rogers Shocked
OLB: Matthews // Perry // Buchanan // Bass Shocked
DL: Pickett // Raji // Carradine // Neal // Goodman // Worthy // Daniels Shocked
OL: Sad

26 - Dantone Jones
61 - Eddie Lacy
109 - Quinton Patton
122 - Trevardo Williams
125 - Bacarri Rambo
159 - Mike Gillislee
167 - Eric Kush
193 - Jeff Baca
216 - Chris Gragg
224 - Michael Buchanan
232 - Zac Dysert

Looking back, that is what I would've done. I had Franklin higher on my board than Patton, Williams and Rambo.......but I went on need with those guys.

I trust Ted a helluva lot more than myself though. I like how we upgraded RB and OL more in the real world than in my little fantasy. Adding Trevardo, Rambo and Buchanan to the D would have been awesome though. And Patton was one of my favorite system fits for WR for us this year. Gragg is a good fit for FB/H-back for us(In my opinion better than Taylor and Williams from the get-go. Gillislee is a poor-mans Johnathan Franklin to me, but would still give us a perfect change of pace from Lacy.

I would have tried to see if I could move up the 1st with just a 3rd to get Kenny Vaccarro, and then hoped to get Lacy or Ball at our 2nd.

Failing that, Datone Jones at 26 would have also been my pick. Lacy at our 2nd in a heartbeat. The rest I can't really say, I haven't followed this stuff too closely.

I would have:

Drafted a more athletic DE with some length.
Drafted a feature RB
Drafted OL depth and a future Center
Drafted OLB depth
Drafted a #4 or #5 WR
Drafted a TE fairly early if the plan is to move on from Jermicheal Finley
Drafted safety depth or take a safety early as a starter

I would not have:

Drafted a QB (need to see if BJ Colemen can be that eventual #2 guy)
Drafted an ILB
Drafted a kicker
Drafted a FB
Drafted an OT early

TT did a pretty darn good job according to my evaluation.

I would have traded both up and down more than Ted. This is not a good exercise for me Laughing

I can also guarantee that I would have passed on most OL. I'd totally neglect that position. FIRE DAVE!!!!!

Given the parameters of what we actually did, there are really only a few changes I would've made:

1. Jones
2. Lacy
4a. Barrett Jones
4b. Baktiari
4c. Franklin(given that Lacy was drafted, Franklin fills in the role as a 3rd down back and solidifies the position)
5a. Hyde
5b. Nick Kasa(we needed a TE and Pena can give us what Boyd can. You're comparing apples to apples with those two IMO)
6a. Palmer
7a. Johnson
7b. Ty Powell
7c. Kevin Dorsey

Barrington is going to be a project player while Ty Powell could've helped us out immediately. I'm kinda pissed off we took Dorsey at that slot when, like Baktiari, we could've had him later in the round. Tretter is really just another guy to me, we could've gotten both a solid Center that could play any position along the line and a player that is a high character type of guy that would have been a staple of the community. Baktiari will be a good player, no doubt, but we could've gotten him later in the round. I don't mind drafting Josh Boyd, but again, we could've done better at that slot, especially when we were able to get Gilbert Pena in UDFA. I think some of these picks are guys that are long-term prospects that will slide up the depth chart in the event someone is overpaid by someone else in the future. This has happened before. However, we still have to be quite concerned about that OLB position. Kasa would've pushed Taylor and probably supplanted him. As is, Stoneburner will certainly press DJ Williams and I wouldn't be surprised if Quarless was the odd man out.

    26 - DE Datone Jones
    61 - RB Eddie Lacy
*TRADE 109 AND 193 TO JAX FOR 103
    103 - OLB Alex Okafor
    122 - RB Johnathan Franklin
    125 - WR Quinton Patton
    159 - C/OT/OG David Quessenberry
    167 - OG/OT Ricky Wagner
    216 - FS Tony Jefferson
    224 - QB Matt Scott
232 - DE Josh Boyd IF HE WERE STILL AVAILABLE HERE... otherwise, NT Kwame Geathers

26 - Cordarrelle Patterson WR Tennessee: Have nothing against Datone Jones, it was him and Patterson I was hoping for when we went OTC. I love Patterson's ability and fit in this offense, but I will now root against him as he will wear purple.

61 - Eddie Lacy RB, Alabama: Easy one to keep here, Lacy could be the player that "puts us over the top" like we thought SJax might as a FA

109 - David Bakhtiari OT, Colorado: Was one of my favorite OL prospects in the draft. Another Newhouse like player with a little bit of a higher ceiling. Hopefully Sherrod pans out, and you have guys like Newhouse and Bakhtiari that can come off the bench and get you through a game at 4 of the 5 OL spots.

122 - Trevardo Williams OLB, UConn: Its becoming a pass rushing league, and I think Trevardo will be a good one in the NFL, we'll see what we have in the Illinois State kid, but I think Williams would've been a great pick here.

125 - Johnathan Franklin RB, UCLA: This kid just wants it too much to fail, I think he'll be a very good back in this league, whether it be for us or some other team if Lacy and Harris prove to be a dynamic combo.

159 - John Boyett S, Oregon: Most people go with Rambo here, its obvious that TT and co didn't like him. Boyett on the other hand I think would've been a guy they might have looked at in the later rounds if he wasn't scooped up. Added depth to the secondary.

167 - Josh Boyd DL, Miss State: Passed on Jones in Rd 1 so I need to add some DL, like Boyd a lot in the late rounds, highly recruited. Could have just as easily been a Bama or LSU DL, instead he stayed home. More productive than Jesse Williams and Bennie Logan, he might have been a 3-4 round guy if he left home.

193 - Kapron Lewis-Moore DL, Notre Dame: Probably a 3-4th round guy if he wouldn't need to start the year on PUP, a good guy to develop in the later rounds.

216 - Marquess Wilson WR, Washington State: Patterson and Wilson would've added a new element to our WR group. TT and Co may not have had him on their board after the Washington St incident.

224 - Kemal Ishmael S Central Florida: I liked everything I saw from him prior to the draft, would add depth to our safety competition.

232 - Zac Dysert, Quarterback, Miami (OH): Not sure why TT has't followed Wolf's MO for draft a QB in every draft. Dysert would have provided more value here than Barrington. Hopefully they see something in Coleman that caused them to pass on the QB talent.

The New Ted Thompson
LOL Laughing

26 - DE Datone Jones
61 - RB Eddie Lacy
109 - OG/C Barrett Jones
122 - WR Quinton Patton
125 - RB Johnathan Franklin
159 - CB Micah Hyde
167 - DE Josh Boyd
193 - LB Nate Palmer
216 - WR Charles Johnson
224 - SS Zeke Motta
232 - OT Reid Fragel

Those first 4 rounds would have been PERFECT!!! And made this draft Legend----Wait for it----dary

After The 4th round I really stopped caring but I changed a few picks based on the fact that I took an OG where TT didn't and WR where he didn't so I changed a couple 7ths to fit the draft as a whole better.
