people are too quick to get po'd at the nick perry pick too. dude has a ton of talent. i thought everyone knew though that'd it take him a bit to transition to the 3-4. think he even said he wasn't comfortable with it at all at first.

Are we even a best player available team anymore?

Datone Jones was projected as a second round pick. Sylvester Williams, Patterson, Ogletree, Elam, Cyprien, Slay are all players I think had a higher grade.

Nick Perry was an obvious reaction to getting destroyed by the Niners and Walden being terrible and leaving. Harrison Smith was one pick after Perry. One pick. Harrison Smith. One pick.

The whole BPA thing has been overblown. Almost every team drafts based on need, especially in the first round. There seems to only be a few teams or picks each year that someone takes a guy when they already have a solid/young player already in place.

Datone Jones was projected a late first round pick when all was said and done.

I'm the biggest Perry fan here when he's on the field. When he's on the field. That's an unfortunate distinction because he never is.

Nick Perry has shown flashes of being the best pass rusher we've had next to Matthews for Clay's entire career. The way he hits the quarterback... I've never seen a Packer hit a QB like that before. But he has to stay healthy, and it's frustrating how our best two pass rushers are always injured.

Best value and best player aren't the same thing.

Truer words have not been spoken! Draft value/premiums are a very fluid thing also.

Red=Unrestricted. Green=Restricted.

QB: Rodgers/Tolzien/Flynn/Wallace
RB: Lacy/Franklin/Harris/Orwin Smith/Starks/Bell
FB: Kuhn
TE: Bostick/Taylor/Stoneburner/Finley/Quarless
WR: Jordy/Cobb/Boykin/White/Harper/Dorsey/Sedderick Cunningham/Alex Gillett/Jones
OT: Bakhtiari/Bulaga/Barclay/Sherrod/Aaron Adams/Jeremy Vujnovich/Newhouse
OG: Sitton/Lang/Taylor/Andrew Tiller/Van Roten
OC: Tretter/Gerhart/EDS

BIGs: Boyd/(Worthy)/Raji/Pickett/Jolly
DL: Daniels/Jones/(Worthy)/Wilson
OLB: Clay/Perry/Mulumba/Palmer/Chase Thomas/Neal
ILB: Hawk/Jones/Lattimore/Barrington/Aiyewa/Francois
CB: Tramon/House/Hayward/Hyde/Bush/Dennard/Nixon/Rolle/Shields
S: Burnett/Jennings/Richardson/Banjo

Assuming we roll over half of what we did last year (which I don't think is likely so this is an optimistic number) we're sitting at $19,494,299.69.

At the moment:
- Scott Tolzien is our backup QB,
- we have no FB unless Taylor takes over that role,
- JC Tretter is our starting center, Greg Van Roten is the interior sub,
- our heaviest DLineman is 310 pounds and we don't have another one over 305,
- We return the same ILB group and are hoping Sam Barrington can save us.
- Mulumba and Palmer are OLB 3 and 4,
- we'll have to parse out a boundary and slot CB spot out of the killer H's,
- Burnett and Jennings/Richardson is still the starting Safety group.

What does it likely look like?

7 for Shields, 5 for Raji, 3 for EDS, 2 for Flynn, 1.2 for Jennings, 1.2 for Lattimore.

Likely we need a new FB, TE, WR, BIG, ILB, OLB, S, and not only do we need these guys, we need them to play significant snaps.

Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad

I'm thinking something like:

1. HaHa Clinton-Dix (S-Alabama)
2. Daquan Jones (DT-Penn State)
3. CJ Fiedorowcz (TE-Iowa)
3. Morgan Breslin (OLB-USC)
4. Chris Borland (ILB-Wisconsin)
5. Aaron Lynch (OLB-UCF via Notre Dame)
6. Shaq Evans (WR-UCLA)
6. Tevin McDonald (S-Eastern Washington via UCLA)
7. Caraun Reid (DT-Princeton)

UDFA:

Trey Millard (FB-Oklahoma)
Jay Prosch (FB-Auburn)
Keith Price (QB-Washington)
Dustin Vaughan (QB-West Texas A&M)
Ben Malena (RB-TAMU)
Roderick McDowell (RB-Clemson)
Mister Cobble (DT-Kentucky)

Gives us a roster of:

Rodgers/Tolzien
Lacy/Franklin/Harris
Millard
Fiedorowicz/Bostick/Taylor
Jordy/Boykin/Cobb/Evans/Dorsey
Bakhtiari/Bulaga/Barclay/Sherrod
Lang/Sitton/EDS/Tretter

Raji/Boyd/Daquan Jones.
Daniels/Datone Jones/Worthy
Hawk/Jones/Lattimore/Barrington/Borland
Clay/Perry/Breslin/Mulumba/Lynch
Tramon/Shields/Hayward/House/Hyde/Bush
Burnett/HaHa/Jennings/Richardson/McDonald

PS: Vaughan, Malena, Reid, Prosch, Stoneburner, Van Roten, Adams, Cobble

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0An1odfW2kZpJdDF1UFVnUS1CcFZXTEEzMWxMdFFxTlE&usp=sharing the BB again. Only graded those who I've seen. All the measurable from the all stars are there, too. Scroll to the bottom of the page and you'll find everyone. Included the SB bids who didn't attend, and the underclassmen who declared.

Ed Reynolds vs ASU was damn ugly to watch. Shocked

Just going over this Safety class:

HaHa, Ward, Boston, Reynolds, Drummond, Hakeem Smith, Brooks, Whitley, and McDonald are the guys that played a FS role in school.

Joyner, Bailey, Loston, Darby, Ladler, Isaiah Johnson, and CJ Barnett are the guys that have never played deep middle.

Dixon/Bucannon haven't played much deep middle if at all, but they have played in 2-deep looks(which is what the Packers run the majority of the time).

2 things:
1) Jaylen Watkins is a guy that is a CB/S convert that no one is talking on here, but is a name I see popping up elsewhere. What do you guys think of him at FS? (I like him in the 3rd FWIW).

2) I really want to see the Packers trade down in this draft. I don't think the talent you can get in the early 2nd is all that different from what we have to pick from at #21.

Oh, and since Bulaga is returning and basically pushing Barclay to the bench....any chance you guys see him being the main back up at all the interior spots plus RT? They dabbled with him at C but his progression was held back by the battle for RT. I think there is a good chance the Packers role with Tretter starting at C and Barclay as the backup. Who knows, Tretter might be better than EDS by years end(which is all that matters).

Drummond and McDonald went back to school.

I'm really high on Jaylen Watkins but I'm higher on Bucannon. We draft both of those guys and we solidify the Safety position.
