@GFTribDMediate
Montana State Bobcats DT Zach Minter to the Chicago Bears. #BigSkyFB

Another extremely athletic DT...one of these guys could stick just because we don't have the bodies.

Bears sign Georgia Southern DT Brent Russell.

Given the type of athlete Emery seems to like, this guy is probably got a decent shot at sticking with us as a NT behind Paea since we don't really have any one else to fit that role.

Nope. I went to Georgia Southern and watched him play every year. He won't make the team. He really, really fell off after his breakout sophomore season. He lacks burst and should have more strength than he shows.

That's some crazy explosion and short area burst.

...and backed up by the numbers.
4.8 40
34.5 vertical
4.37 Short Shuttle

Those numbers don't mean a thing when you do not see them bear out when you watch the player. In this case, both play speed and athletic metrics match.

That's really crazy, did this guy have legal trouble or fail like 10 drug tests?

I know it was a highlight video, but with as much as he caught the ball, you would think he was a linebacker in coverage. Crazy.

I guess Zach Minter tried to return from a hamstring injury too quickly and he re-aggravated the injury, ending his season early. Hopefully it won't be a long term issue for him, but it could explain why it caused him to fall off of teams radars.

Could be a great find for us.

I would think the reason he didn’t get much interest in the draft is that he is undersized…measures just under 6-1” and 301lbs…and he got hurt and played hurt his senior year which dropped his production so those more than likely were the leading factors…as well as his lack of scheme versatility but he is perfect for our UT spot.

He also plays for Montana state. Not exactly an NFL player factory, nor do they play high level talent.

That's impressive, but can he jump out of a pool?

We seem to do a poor job of recruiting UDFA's every year. I realize it is not the backbone of our draft, but I think it is a numbers game. The more you can look at, the better your chances of finding a diamond in the rough.

With that burst, I'd bet he could. After that whole nightmare with Gilbert, I'd rather just watch game tape though, haha.
