Some people still don't get that great arm, nothing else that stands out, and several negatives shouldn't even be considered "upside" guys. Jeff George, Russel...

Upside guys are those who are short, or maybe accurate but without a strong arm, or even a guy like Tebow has more upside than Bray.

Are you kidding? Laughing You can' tjust categorize all "upside" players in one neat little group.

Of course Bray is an "upside" guy. He plays the most important position on the field. This guy is 6'6 232 pounds and has a major league arm, the best in the draft. He can make every throw in the NFL. Scouts LOVE his stature, arm and gunslinger mentality.

What they don't love is his sloppy footwork and inconsistent release..(two things our QB gurus can absolutely work on. And his inmaturity and attitude.

Most trusted scout sites I saw had him realistically pegged as 3rd rounder because of his talents sinc he is still a work in progress. He came out early, he really needed another year to work on his craft AND to mature. Make no mistake this guy physically screams 1st round talent. If he will mature and put the work in our coaches ask of him he is the poster child of "upside" . Getting him as an UDFA is a no brainer.

Fair enough. I disagree, too many things that can't be fixed.

The only things that "can't be fixed" are his attitute, maturity and desire to be better than he is. That's up to him. Whether he will or not is yet to be seen but it certainly CAN be done Confused

We got Bradley McDougald! Had this kid slotted in the 6th and think he will play his way onto the roster.

Yeah, he was a pretty highly regarded C in this year's draft, especially for a ZBS. I'm glad we were able to get him. He should have a good chance to make the roster, or certainly the PS.

ok now WOW this one is interesting we signed.........

ATH Demetrius Harris Wisc/Milwaukee
6'6 237
Apparently he was gifted receiver who went the basketball route as a PF. Apparently Dorsey scouted him when he was in GB two years ago and made himself a note to check back on him two years later to see if he's interested in football career. Shocked

Sounds like our scouts contacted him in march to gauge his interest and we apparently flew him out for a private workout before draft. Sounds like we may have yet another option to work with at the TE position.

And now he has an article in the Star about his journey:

Quote:
Harris hasn’t played football in four years, since high school in Arkansas. He was a basketball player in college, first at Mineral Area College in Park Hills, Mo., then at Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

The Chiefs signed him anyway after the draft as a tight end, hoping the 6-foot-7, 230-pound Harris has enough ability to eventually do what NFL tight ends like Antonio Gates and Jimmy Graham have done. Both were basketball players who played little or no football in college but still have become top NFL tight ends.

“It’s going to be a bit of a transition process for him but everyone understands that,’’ said Harris’ agent, Matthew Pope. “He’s not going to come in and start right away. We all know that. He’s a long-term project. We’re thinking big picture here.

“For him, it’s about not getting discouraged. It’s about getting better every day.’’

And here's a clip of him playing basketball at UW-Milwaukee. Only other clip I could find was a dunk contest video that wasn't recorded well.
