Very pre-mature, but got, most likely, at least 50 of our 53 on the roster right now so it's a good starting point.

QB - Rodgers // Coleman [2] [2]
RB - Lacy // Franklin // Harris // Kuhn [4] [6]
WR - Nelson // Cobb // Jones // Boykin // Johnson [5] [11]
TE - Finley // Taylor // Quarless // Williams [4] [15]
OL - Sherrod // Lang // EDS // Sitton // Bulaga // Newhouse // Bakhtiari // Tretter // Barclay // Datko [10] [25]

DL - Pickett // Raji // Neal // Jones // Daniels // Boyd // Wilson (Worthy) [7] [32]
LB - Matthews // Hawk // Bishop // Perry // Jones // Moses // Palmer // Barrington // Manning [9] [41]
DB - Shields // Burnett // McMillian // Hayward // Williams // House // Hyde // Bush // Ericksen [9] [50]

Rodgers Coleman
Lacy Franklin Harris Green
Finley Mulligan Taylor
Nelson Jones Cobb Boykin Ross Johnson
Bulaga Bakhtiari Sherrod Sitton Lang Barclay EDS Tretter
Raji Pickett Jones Boyd Neal Wilson Daniels
Matthews Perry Moses Palmer Hawk Bishop Jones Manning Francois Lattimore
Williams Shields House Hayward Hyde Burnett McMillian Jennings Richardson Bush
Crosby Masthay Goode

Brown Pease Stoneburner Dorsey Datko Lewis Pena Mulumba

PUP Worthy

Fully expect more DB's fewer OL on PS, possibly dealing Datko for conditional pick. May even see Newhouse Quarless or either Williams traded. This is a tough roster to make.

What's amazing, and somewhat worrying, about this is that there isn't a single tough cut on this list.

For a team that is supposed to be bursting with competition there is a lot of soft space here.

And not only that, there is more roster space that could be made if needed.

Other guys from this list which, if you put a gun to my head, I wouldn't be too upset about cutting if we had to:
Offence: Kuhn, Boykin, DJ Williams, Taylor, Datko
Defence: Wilson, Boyd, Palmer, Barrington, Hyde, Ericksen

Obviously it's early days and we'll no doubt be learning more about these guys in the coming months, but right now it wouldn't surprise me if we're making some waiver claims come cut down day. OLB in particular looks like its lacking quality depth.

^ It would surprise me if we kept all 3 of Taylor, Williams and Quarless and cut Mulligan so soon after signing him. Unless the three of them had a lot of improvement.

Cuts are always easier this time of year, it will change come August.

How many teams are as deep as we are at corner or dline? Oline is failry deep now as well. We have good starters across the board or early picks there except safety. TE depth and Safety depth is kind of scary but other than that we are pretty set.

Contrary to popular belief, I don't see us as deep at CB though I could definitely appreciate the argument. Reminder: we're looking at two guys with the same shoulder injury which killed one of their careers and be that observation, it seriously jeopardizes the career of the other...

That said, Hyde might be listed as a CB but I think he's going to be an all-around type of player and I'm confident he'll do well in camp.

Here's my 53, there are some surprises:

Rodgers/Coleman
Lacy/Franklin/Harris/Benson
Nelson/Jones/Cobb/Ross/Johnson
Finley/Stoneburner/Williams//Mulligan/Bostick(H-Back)
Bulaga/Baktiari/Newhouse/Sherrod/Barclay
Lang/Sitton/Tretter
EDS/Lewis(swing-man)

Jones/Neal/Worthy/Daniels/Wilson(cut when Worthy comes of PUP)
Raji/Pickett
CMIII/Perry/Barrington/Palmer
Hawk/Bishop/Francois/Manning/Jones
Shields/Hayward/House/Hyde/Slowpoke
Burnett/McMillian/Jennings/Ericksen

PS: Datko, Pena, Boyd(listed as a DE), Means, Dorsey, Cunningham, Brown, White

Mozes, Richardson, Boykin, Lattimore, and Taylor are all out-played in camp. I could see DJ Williams getting booted before Taylor, but Williams had more targets than Taylor did last year, unless Taylor can assume the Crabtree role, or Williams shows more versatility than Bostick, then Bostick would get cut for Williams. However, I just don't see that happening as Bostick is a FB converted to TE because of his blocking skills. Bostick is a prototypical H-back however and Quarless is NOT coming back from that injury.

Missing reps at Safety while we waffle him at CB is really going to hurt Hyde in the long run. Not sure he even makes the team ATP.

Nope.

The last two years I've done a 53 the day after the draft and have been scratching my head how we're going to fit everyone in. This year it's far too easy.

Some things are set it stone, but I think that ninth and maybe tenth linemen are open to debate, the fifth WR is an open competition at this point, also do we keep Wilson, Neal, Jolly and do they go with seven dlineman for the first time since we switched to the 34. Who are the back up safeties and linebacker? I mean that is more of a special teams question at this point. I still think that there a good amount of questions that we need TC and pre-season to answer.

Crap forgot TE. Finley is the clear cut starter, but is Q good to go? Who makes it as just the blocker type, is it Mulligan? And DJ Williams, Taylor, Stonerburner who separates themselves? Do we keep four, five, three? I don't think any of that is set in stone. Specials teams ect is going to factor in.

Part of that is the addition of clearly better players. Last year you had to figure out who might make it out of Starks, Green, Benson etc.

This year, we KNOW Lacy and Franklin make it for sure so it's easy to leave out the worse guys.

This is a good thing.

TE is wide open going into camp, Quarless, Taylor and Williams are all fighting for their jobs IMO.

very true. like i said in my projection above, i really like stoneburner to make this roster. guy finds ways to get open and was always a pain in the - to other teams playing OSU.
