Wouldnt mind giving Cliff Harris a chance in camp now that I know Reggie is willing to take some chances on guys. Just released by NY

Loved him in college. He has his limitations, but he has serious ball skills and is a good return man. I wouldnt mind at least bringing him in to compete for a spot.

What a fall. Wasn't he at one point viewed as a pretty high draft pick? I remember a lot of people were really high on him at the time.

IIRC, some mock sites as an early 1st rounder, but they were super early mocks- like before the season even began.

He actually did well in Eagles camp and was a surprise cut. They assumed it was because he got injured. Not sure what happened. Doesnt seem like he got in anymore trouble.

Love how he picks off Andrew Luck twice in the same game.

Cliff was signed by the Jets before the draft.

Wonder why the released him so soon then.

Didn't know he was released already. That's interesting.

I spoke with Kyle for about 10 minutes last night. He's looking forward to coming in and trying to win a job. He's a real confident guy and has no plans of taking a back seat to Wilson in rookie minicamp.

One of the nicer athletes I've ever come in contact with.

Any news of UDFA jersey numbers?

Not yet. Dont even have drafted players numbers yet.

Excited to see what he can do. I really was hoping we would sign him, mechanically I think he is more ready than Wilson.

Here's an article I wrote about Kyle for my student newspaper at EWU: link

That's a good read. I would be shocked if he made the roster at this point, but practise squad certainly not out of the question.

Mel Kiper has some thoughts on Connor Vernon via Vic Tarfur:

Quote:
Kiper: "If he led the Raiders in catches in his second year, I wouldn't be surprised. In the mold of a Wes Welker, he's a technician with reliable hands. Make that tremendous hands, and he is the career receptions leader in the ACC."

Sounds promising. Rod Streater is an indication Reggie can find productive WRs off the street it seems.

It's a shame Vernon didn't get drafted. If we keep 6 WRs he could easily make it.

Streater
Criner
Ford
Moore
Butler
Vernon

Unless we sign a vet

Vernon offers good depth. From the little I watched Duke this season, he seemed to have solid hands and IMO, that's the best thing for a WR. I don't give a crap about "separation" as much as some. If he can catch passes thrown to him, that's what I want.

Oh I skipper over this post not even seeing that. Good remarks by Kiper. For so many years, we've had fast WRs w/ questionable hands. Now we have average speed guys w/ great hands. Sign me up!

If he doesn't create separation, he won't be targeted so i think you should give a crap.

He does though. He wouldn't be the all time leader in receptions in the ACC If he couldn't get open

Notice I said, "as much as some". I just think that having the ability to catch surpasses all.
