Iím not saying there is absolutely no one else that can do MRobs job successfully, but I would want to keep him for as long as he can keep up his high level of play, which I think is around three years.
Cap is going to start getting VERY tight in the near future. I'd rather let Robinson walk if it means we get to retain a guy like Bennett.

This is the thing people aren't understanding. Yes, we may have room for these players now, but in the near future we are going to seriously need to start pinching pennies. We only have so much money, and if the difference between Rob and Ware means resigning a guy like Michael Bennett, I'm all for it. The difference isn't big to us, but 1 million here and 1 million there is a new contract.

Meh, I think people understand that the Sidney rices and red Bryant of the world won't be Seahawks much longer (as well as lynch, who you aluded to). Money will free itself up, one way or another.

Na, man. I'm playin'.

His point is that as core players get their big contracts, the team will need to strip down the contract to find the necessary $$$. Spencer Ware does things that the team may want in a FB, especially the ability to run the ball much better than Mike Rob.

And my point is Bennett could be a bust of a signing for all we know, so valuing him over a proven contributor and a veteran member of the roster is premature. Particularly when the player in question is apart of the foundation that created a winning environment that attracts high profile free agents in the first place.

Seriously.

Once Christine takes over for Marshawn, a FB will be even less necessary because he is a true 1-cut runner.

What if Christine never takes over for Marshawn?

The question is rhetorical.

Leroy Hill was a foundation of that winning environment too. So was Red and McQuistan. So we shouldn't be moving on from them too?

Red Bryant's days on this team are limited if he won't restructure, especially if Jesse Williams lives up to his potential.

I think Red's spot on this team has alot more to do with Bennett and Scruggs than it ever will have with Williams.

I see Jesse starting inside and not playing alot outside or on 3rd downs.

Irvin Williams Mebane Bennett

Thats a sick looking line in a year or 2 if guys live up to their potential. Very balanced.

Urgh I left some of the post out.

If Williams does pan out and is able to really dominate inside, it reduces the need for a 5-tech like Red. A smaller guy like Greg Scruggs or Michael Bennett would bring the size to hold up the run game but also pass rush and bring 8-10 sacks.

I would not be surprised if Avril signs here long term and we see Irvin as a pass rush specialist and filling a bit of a joker role where he plays some SLB.

I dont think we see any of Ware this season barring injury but I think there's a more than likely chance we see Mike Rob let go after this season with Ware taking over if he can do what the coaching staff believes he can.

Everything can change and Mike Rob could be here for another 3-5 years. But I most defenitly believe in drafting Ware they plan for him to take over at fullback within 1-2 years.

There's a good chance we see Ware for the 1st 4 games with Shawn likely being suspended.
