Could be a nice role player. Has excellent versatility. Lacks the top end speed to be a #1 back.

You can definitely tell recent failed draft picks due to character issues has influenced this draft. The Lions are putting a premium on character, and I can't say I'm mad.

That is exactly why I really expected us to take Tyler Bray there.

I read that he has been a returner in the past, maybe the motive behind the pick?

I'm interested in how the Lions are planning to use him. They must have a role for him in mind because he wasn't an immediate need or BPA imo.

He was never very effective as a return man.

Motion him out of the backfield and try to create mismatches. He runs excellent routes and has good hands. Just a guess.

Honestly his description of RB/WR tweener sounds like he's our Reggie Bush insurance. Probably immediate future is as our KR.

This. They probably went into the draft wanting someone that has the skills to be able to take over that role should Bush go down. While theres other RBs in the draft with better RB skills, Riddick is the best in the passing game.

This one has me scratching my head honestly... Not sure if Riddick is anything more than a back up RB who can also run up the middle a bit.

I feel like I'm describing Leshoure? An as insurance behind him we have Bell? Who's more of a power runner than any of the others. I just don't see Riddicks real role other than as insurance behind both Bush/Leshoure. Cause he's definitely not getting carries up the middle over Bell.
