He really got after the QB's in the MAC this past season. 19 TFL and 12.5 sacks.

Could be a nose tackle/DT tweener for us.

Quote:
Bottom Line
Some NFL teams wont like Jones less-than-ideal size, but all scouts appreciate his on-field effort, short area quickness, and arm usage that challenges opposing offensive linemen on every snap. Jones' sizeand lack of elite physical tools will likely prevent him from being anything more than a late-round draft pick, but he could eventually work himself into a defensive line rotation.

This guy is not camp fodder. He has major pass rush potential as a 1-gap NT.

I love this pick, I think he can definitely come in and play early on.

I like the pick. Sounds like he can compete for a spot. Not sure what else you can ask for from a late round pick.

What!? Rick Smith came out and said this was the pick he was most excited over. Anything but camp fodder and could give Earl a run for his money on the nose

Aren't GMs supposed to be excited about their picks?

Thank you for providing something meaningful to the conversation.

He is the anti Frank Okam. I fail to see the issue. At worst, he at least adds another motor to the line.

Not going to wow anybody. But he will give it all he has. I'm pleased with it.

Highlight video of him from this past year.

I like it - has a spark to him, will play through the whistle and finish plays. His size might make him a rotational guy at the nose, but don't be too shocked if he works into the Watt/Smith/Crick rotation as well.

Ya, its Earl's 4th year in the league, I think the lack of a high draft pick shows the confidence the team has in him to hold down those 40% of the snaps he plays.

MOST excited. In a draft where you found a potential successor to Andre Johnson (the greatest player in Texans franchise history) as well as the potential successor to Ed Reed (perhaps the only 1st ballot HoF this team has ever had) it's a NT that has Smitty MOST excited.

I am willing to grant that I perhaps reacted too hastily to this pick.
