well, as you say, let's let the guys play and see who plays better and helps the team more.

I am cool with that. Now that the decision is made:

I think they should cut Kluwe, and let him sign elsewhere.
If not that, they should have an honest competition, and let the best man win.

it could include Guitar Hero riffs, and Locke would be sent packing.

Can someone explain, for THIS YEAR, where the extra 1MM will be used?

Because keeping the late round picks isn't it, they just replace other guys that were late round picks in previous years. So, where is the extra $1MM going to be used, this year?

Extending contracts, going after FAs. We'll just have to wait and see.

thanks for SHOUTING! Laughing

maybe it's not a THIS YEAR kind of situation. maybe it's a saving money in SUBSEQUENT YEARS too kind of situation.

then draft a punter next year......

Maybe our scouting staff knows that Locke is better than any rookie punter in the 2014 draft...

I do like Josh Boyd, but with Floyd set to take the 3-tech spot for hopefully the next decade, it would have been a redundant pick.

Unless Boyd were to bulk up and player more of a one technique position.

True, he did play there when Fletcher Cox was at Mississippi State. I think his best fit is still a 3-tech, but I suppose he could be successful playing the nose.

I can't remember with all the changes, do college and NFL kickoff from same yard mark?

from the Kluwe thread;

Locke 2/3 on collegiate FGs, from 49, 51 yds. 1 blocked from 39 yds.

That may be a factor that helped Spielman decide to take Locke in round 5.

Practicing FGs by Locke means a holder practices for a left-footed K. If Locke makes the roster, and Walsh were injured, a player other than Walsh would hold for FG attempts by Locke.

I see the benefit in Locke in kickoffs, where he might be a better tackler.

Does anyone have his collegiate tackle totals, however few they might be?
