Oday Aboushi // OT // Virginia

Another offensive lineman. Solid player, but I would have liked a S or TE.

These TEs aren't going to contribute. Would rather wait to get one in FA or draft high next season.

Although any Safety would have worked.

It's going to be tough trying to add him to the draft class highlight tape. I'll try.

He'll probably be our jumbo tackle. We didn't have a back-up to Ferguson and Howard.

LOVE this pick. He's going to be a good player for us. He was my favorite O-Lineman left. I didn't even realize he was still available, I thought that he was going to be picked earlier.

I don't get it but they had a personal workout with him they must like him at guard or rt... O line will have a lot of depth going into camp

It's been such overkill with these Jets Laughing

I mean I understand that good teams are built at the LOS but really? Over the last 16 hours the Jets have added 3 guards...

Would've much rather the Jets taken a shot on a skill position player like Rogers or Swope.

Idzik sticking to the board. Competition for Howard, and yeah I forgot he can be our jumbo OT now too. Good call green there green. So even if he doesn't start he will get playing time.

Assuming Winters wins the starting RG spot, long-term he could replace Colon who's on a one year deal at LG.

I just posted this in another thread, but I should've put it here.

Anyways, Oday has played both RT and LT throughout his career; and is one mean mofo. He was originally touted as a potential 1st-2nd round prospect, I don't know what happened to allow him to fall to the fifth but this a great pickup imo.

I'm gonna go ahead and say he could be starting for us in two years.

Quote:
No. 22, Oday Aboushi, OT/Virginia(Preseason Rank: NR)

Aboushi has spent his college career cultivating quite the reputation (in a very good way), using his immense size — he’s 6’6″ and 312 pounds — to simply manhandle the opposition every chance he gets. As a senior this year, he was selected first-team All-ACC and as a participant in the Senior Bowl, while blocking in front of the lifeblood of the Cavaliers’ offense, their running game. Overall, Aboushi averaged a grade of 90 over the Hoos’ 12 games this season, regularly coming up well above it while also tacking on over 10 knockdowns per game, too. Sure, he was solid as a junior, but you can see the ratcheted-up aggression and growth this year as he developed into a better, smarter blocker. Whether he’ll acknowledge it or not, the Brooklyn native was auditioning for a spot in the NFL these past few months. Now, after another successful campaign, he may have even played his way into the first round.

That's incorrect. Odey translates better as a RT. I think we'll see Howard get kicked inside.

I'd rather not have someone in Rogers who is absolute locker room cancer. Bottom line. Nothing has happened to make me believe otherwise.

Swope is a nice player and all but I don't see the point in taking someone who is just going to be a backup to Jeremy Kerley. Hill is still developing into our #2. I expect Hill to have at least 600 yards this year.

I'm actually impressed. He's doing well against drafted defensive linemen.

Yeah, he and Coples actually went up against each other back in the day. Wish I had highlights of that, I might be able to find it somewhere on my UVA forums.
