Very solid depth pick. Improving that depth.

Ayers to DE?

No other reason to pick a OLB this early.

Sounds a lot like Z.Brown according to NFLN.

I was still hoping for a DE. I'll take it though. The depth is MUCH needed.

Interesting. CBS Sports compares Gooden to ... Zach Brown of #Titans.

Ayers is way to small for that, no way that happens. This is for depth and ST help.

On passing downs, yeah. Moving Ayers permanently to DE would be idiotic.

The good news is we pick fairly early in the 4th so one of the DL could still fall to us.

If this kid is fast and can grasp the game, he'll be key in stepping in at times to give our other backers a breather.

Could be better, but I don't mind.

Could also be a sign that they'll use him + Brown on passing downs, with Ayers rushing the passer.

No. He's just depth. Also can step in and spot start. He had 4.47 40 time at the combine and good size at 6'2 234

We're picking someone who will rarely see the field on defense in the 3rd round?

I just can't buy something like that.

Gotta be something up their sleeve.

Agreed. I think Greg Williams will use Ayers a lot rushing the QB on passing downs.

Two LB's that run 4.4 40's? Pretty fast defense.

Someone explain this pick to me....

From what I saw on the highlight reel that NFLN showed, he looks like a smaller Rennie Curran. Please tell me I'm wrong about that. Pray

EDIT: I realize he is a couple inches taller than Rennie, but still. I'm not a fan.

I loved the Titans first two picks, but this one has me shaking my head..

Posted this in the other thread but his combine numbers are ridiculous:

4.47 forty, 27 reps, 10-11 broad, 6.71 cone.

I won't doubt our front office when it comes to drafting linebackers on the second day.

Maybe this is in case McCarthy goes down again or to replace him, but putting at LB they is 250 at DE wont work.

I am sure they feel he can play both inside and outside. And we have absolutely no depth behind our starting three at LB, which is especially dangerous when we can't count on Colin to stay healthy.
