|
|
|
Height: 6'5"
Weight: 255 lbs
Arm Length: 33 3/4"
Hands: 9 5/8"
40 Time: 4.62 Seconds
Bench Press: N/A
Vertical: 37"
Long Jump: 10'4"
...btw, his 40 time, vertical and long jump pro day results were all better than Ertz and Eifert's. Worth mentioning.
NFL.com wrote: | Strengths
Kelce has an ideal tight end frame. Athletic for his size, with great strength, and the ability to stretch the field vertically. Very physical run blocker, generates power from the lower half, and will move defenders off the ball. Plays with leverage. Wide catching radius, can adjust and make the difficult catch. Tough to bring down after the catch. Light feet, and has lined up in numerous different positions.
Weaknesses
Suspended for an entire season for violating team rules. Only one season of production. Doesn't have blazing speed. Not a tremendously explosive athlete. Doesn't come out of his breaks all that well.
NFL Comparison
Rob Gronkowski
Bottom Line
Kelce has been a tremendous run blocker throughout his career for the Bearcats, but really elevated his game as a receiver in his senior season. He isn't a tremendous athlete, but he does a lot of things very well. It's a deep tight end class, but Kelce's play suggests that he should be highly sought after. |
Highlights
...and discuss. _________________

Very good pick and potential matchup nighmare
Highest upside of all TE in draft may start as backup but can really be a great player |

That's what I thought, too. IMO, that's a tad overzealous. I like the pick, but he wasn't even on my radar as the BPA, TBH. _________________

Like TMo, Kelce is a studly blocker, who can also catch the ball. Hopefully he stays off the DL better than Moeaki has.

Guys built like a semi but runs like a deer i think Moeaki is odd man out. Final year of contract and can't stay healthy. Kelce looks like a tank for real though lol. _________________

Violating team rules regarding alcohol consumption. I'm assuming he just got drunk and loud one night on campus. Not a huge deal IMO, considering Jared Allen had the same exact issues in college. That's the sole reason both players fell in the draft. _________________

According to twitter, suspension was for failed drug test (marijuana) but says he hasn't touched the stuff since. _________________

That's weird. All I can find on the internet anywhere says that he "violated team substance abuse rules", but Mayock said he was suspended for alcohol use when the pick was made. Hmm.
Either way, not a big issue IMO.
I will say this, though; the more tape I watch on this kid, the more I like the Gronk comparison. This kid's got some serious wheels for a guy his size and he's a freakin' BEAST on blocking assignments. His route running needs a lot of work, but that's really the only part of his game I can pick apart from what I've seen so far. I'm really starting to love this pick. _________________

From the sounds of it, he tried marijuana once, got caught, and never touched it again. Still seems like a whole year suspension would be a bit of excessive punishment if that was the case. I'm not sure what typical suspensions are in college though.
I'm warming up to the pick. Not good news for Moeaki though. _________________ Sigbet with El Ramster; OKC wins title = I win. IND wins title = he wins. |

He was my second favorite mid round TE in this draft behind Vance McDonald, but he was already gone. Love the pick.
I'm thinking Reid is approaching offense somewhat differently than in Philly. Two top TEs and another RB suggest he's taking a different approach. With that, I'm loving the future so far. Just need to really focus on defense now. _________________
