2nd Round Selection

Rab has got the draft day discussion thread up and going, we will use these threads for individual Patriot draft pick discussion. I'll put the thread up at the beginning of each new round that we currently have a draft pick in.

In the event that it's traded, we'll just edit this to discuss the result of that trade. DRAFT DAY!/WEEKEND!!!

52nd Overall

Name: Jamie Collins
Position: DE/OLB
College: Southern Mississippi

Vertical jump was a ridiculous 41.5 inches.

Pretty pumped about this pick for all of the explosiveness he possesses but he needs to improve a lot in order to take full advantage of his assets so that he can be one to the team. Like any pick, there is a bust potential here, as high as anyone else's, but the need for an electric pass rusher is undeniable and this is a shot at fixing that. What I like most is the potential duo of Chandler Jones and Jamie Collins as a young core going forward. What's more important, this gets me more excited for the 59th pick as a fan.

Its refreshing to see the Patriots address pass rush with their fist pick 2 years in a row

side note, my roommate did like no research and an underrated guy like Collins baffled him. Who would you guys say he compares to? I can't settle on a guy lol

Didn't expect it at all but I am happy with the player we got. Collins has been a consistent force on defense as far as 75+ tackles for three straight seasons. He could do very well on our D for a while.

I'm happy. Oddly I thought the 9ers were going to take him and we were going to get Tank but overall I'm very very excited.

Would have loved him at #29. To get him at #52 is unbelievable.

I love this pick. Collins has a high ceiling. He reminds me of Jason Taylor athletically. Love the value - I had a first round grade on him.

Hopefully he's as coachable as he is athletic.

He's kind of like... ahh, worst case scenario? Adalius Thomas pass rushing style when he was with Baltimore, with run defense comparable to an Andre Carter I guess. So, I guess Andre Carter is a good comparison. Richter and mcmurty are bigger fans of his than I and might have more information on a more accurate comparison for your roommate.

Collins has been one of my favourite prospects for a while, I had him going to the Saints at 15 for a long time, so to get him at 52 is unbelievable.

Jamie Collins is just like Jennifer Lawrence's character from The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen.

A fighter.
