Alshon Jeffery was not an elite athlete.

He was a high production and a fairly safe 2nd round pick, so I would not be shocked if this is a value pick on a solid producing player.

How would people feel about Te'o at 50?

Depends on who is on the board. I think with Te'o you get what you get with him. A Nick Roach type guy who is solid, but not a game changer. I wouldn't be upset, but I wouldn't be ecstatic either

Alshon was a 6'3" 216 pound WR that ran in the 4.4's and had a 36.5" vertical - thats a Height/Weight/Speed guy. He's not a top of the class athlete, but he has the measurables.

He ran in the 4.5s and while he is a good athlete he was no considered to be an athlete when compared to guys like Stephen Hill.

All the questions about Jeffery had to do with athletic ability and attitude because his production was exceptional.

The more I think about this the more I would rather just go offence is often as possible…we have plenty of vets on D that can carry us…if we can upgrade our offence with young talent we can then go hard on defensive players next year while hopefully the offence will be able to then carry the D when all those rookies are bedded in to the scheme…I mean Trestman is here for offence…lets sell out and give him the weapons to put an explosive offence on the field.

Phil is wild man, the more I see Long the more I like the pick and actually I believe he was the player targeted at 20.
He knew Warmack,Cooper and tackles would be gone.

Telling you I wouldnt be shocked to see a qb selected by Bears in rd 2. He went to USC pro day and we worked out Glennon.
Personally think we need a defensive player but Phil clearly likes to make people say wow !

Kevin Minter just sounds like the name of a Bears Linebacker to me. I think he could be the next in the long line of legacies. Despite the strength of in division rival passing games, don't discount the Bears need to dominate the run on defense as they have. Anytime you can completely take away one element of another teams offense you do what you can to do it. Even passing teams have to run to open up their game.

That's probably because of Barry Minter.

40 time is not the end all/be all of WR measureables. Alshon has elite hand size/arm length/jumping ability, and he has long stride speed.

I think Te'o is going to be a crazy value at 50.

Whoever Emery ends up picking tonight I just know there's going to be another crew of pessimists on here who dislike the pick and start raging like we saw yesterday. I for one can't wait for the reactions. That's what makes the draft so enjoyable for me to watch. Laughing

Guys, just remember to take it easy on yourselves tonight regardless of what happens.

I would mind Schwenke one bit, though I would prefer a trade back. We need a third round pick horribly bad.

Agreed. I almost think we should just go ahead and get the OL overhaul over with, grab our C of the future, and keep Jay off his arse for the next 10 years.
