Patterson: "I don't know what fans need to expect or want to expect. I'm just working hard every day at practice to get better. I don't expect anything. I just know when my time comes, my time comes. And I'll be ready. I'm a big guy. I like to be physical. If a defensive back likes to put his hands on me, I like contact and stuff like that."

"I focus on myself. I can't worry about nobody else and what they do."

Patterson has shown a firmer grasp on the Vikings' playbook than many expected he would after just one year of major college football; coach Leslie Frazier said Patterson graded out with no mental errors in the Buffalo game, and Frazier added the Vikings haven't needed to simplify any of their plans for the receiver.

Patterson's 1 year of major college football doesn't mean he can't learn an offensive system. It just means he had little experience at that level.

IMO, these criticisms are part of pre-draft analyses that must include some weaknesses to seem balanced/ complete. The 'question marks', such as a lack of experience, could be counted in the weakness category, but should simply fall in the 'questions' category.

That's exactly right.

I took him late in the draft, I got a great feeling about him.

I did in a league where return yardage earns points for you too. I figured at the very least, he'll earn me return yards.

Da'Rick Rogers has been cut by the Bills. Looks like we got the right former Tennessee receiver. It's too bad though. Da'Rick has all the talent in the world; just no work ethic or motivation.

When he's stocking shelves at the local Wal-Mart, he'll get that motivation back.

The knocks of Patterson not grasping the playbook at UT were a bunch of BS anyway. He arrived on the team in the middle of August, he didn't even have time to learn the playbook before being thrown right in to action. And despite not being given the chance to learn the playbook before playing, he dominated.

Patterson will be the best play maker in this draft, and might wind up as the best player in it overall(I've got Warmack and Star ahead of him, but as talented as he is, he could have a better career).

He has shown exceptionally soft hands all through camp, making difficult catches away from his body. I liked Patterson a lot obviously, but I did question his ability to snatch passes out of the air. So far in practice he is alleviating that concern, we just need to see more of it on the field.

Everything I have read tells me this kid loves to play football. He knows he is talented and wants to show it on the field. He is talented. We need to let him show it on the field. He's a very fun aspect of this season!

That's an interesting point. I wonder if he might be a guy for us to consider bringing in next year. After having some time to think things over, maybe he could come back with a little more maturity and a lot more desire to play in the NFL. If he's that talented, maybe we can pair him up with his old college team mate and learn the ropes from him? It sure wouldn't cost us much to try him out.
