Cook doesn't seem like a good fit against any of them :/

Josh Robinson I assume. I know he didn't play slot at all last year but he certainly has the traits to keep up with those guys.

Cook and Rhodes on the wings, Winfield in the slot. Could easily have been the best 3 Corner set in the league.

I think Cook will take on the bigger and slower recievers, Rhodes the smaller and shiftier ones. Rhodes is extremely physical at the LOS. He likes to be the pain in the [inappropriate/removed]. Best pick this year.

This is what I think would be be best, but MIN typically just had the CB set on a side of the field regardless of where the WRs set up. I hope this changes cuz I agree with Cook taking on the bigger/slower types, and Rhodes taking the shifter one as well.

Slot CBs would be Robinson & Jefferson. And Robinson would be backup for outside CB.

Lot of optimism for a guy that can't stay on the field.

Yes, there is a lot of optimism for him.
He has missed a fair share of time, due to injuries & the suspension, but when he has been in the lineup he has been a really nice CB for us. I really like the fact that he came back at the end of the season after getting injured in the TB? game.

Robert Smith was injured a lot early in his career too, and more seriously than Cook.

worked out ok for him.

The vikes CBs most usually play sides, so they will all get a chance to cover those guys. In addition to Robinson, when those receivers line up in the slot.

I read something over the weekend that said Cook has asked to shadow #1's this year.

EDIT:

Quote:
Chris Cook knows exactly what he'll tell Xavier Rhodes if the rookie asks for advice about handling the big, talented receivers the Minnesota Vikings face twice a year in the NFC North Division.

"Just let me handle them," Cook said this past week in an interview on 1500 ESPN.

Cook laughed after he said it, but he wasn't entirely joking.

Whether the Vikings decide to shadow Cook on the big bodies of Johnson (6-5, 236), Chicago's Brandon Marshall (6-4, 230) and Green Bay's Jordy Nelson (6-3, 217) depends in part on the development of Rhodes, the soft-spoken first-round pick (25th overall) out of Florida State.

I really like the exuberance and confidence that Cook has been showing this offseason. you can tell he is maturing and putting football as a priority in his life. im glad he is showing signs of changing.

as for shadowing #1s, I think he can do it if they are more the big bodied down the field type. He seems to get eaten up by the Greg Jennings type WRs in the short area passing game.

How do big corners play against smaller receivers?

Chuck them around for the first five yards and then shove them out of bounds.

You will have anomalies.

This franchise has not done well drafting defensive backs in the last 10-15 years.
