Xavier Rhodes [CB] Florida State

Height: 6014
Weight: 210 lbs

RS Junior

33 3/4" Arms
9" Hands
79 1/8" Wingspan

Combine

4.43 40 YD Dash(1.58 10 YD Split)
14 Reps
40.5" Vertical Jump
11'0" Broad Jump

Quote:
STRENGTHS: Strongly-built with good arm length…loves to jam and get physical in press, facing up WRs and staying aggressive through the whistle…very good click-and-close ability with strong plant-and-go burst and leaping ability…fluid hips to easily change directions with a smooth transition, showing the ability to easily adjust and contort his body…confident and instinctive with good ballskills…punishing striker and works hard to shed blocks…good experience (39 starts) with 8 career INTs.

WEAKNESSES: Tends to get too physical in tight coverage, playing too hands-on and grabby, which will attract penalties…aggressive with the ball in the air, but makes too much contact and needs to pay attention to body position…needs to show better discipline and is susceptible to play fakes and misdirection…not a quick-twitch athlete…needs to stay assignment-sound, especially against the run to hold contain…needs to stay focused and controlled…most productive season came in 2010.

SUMMARY: Former WR, but thrived as a three-year starting boundary CB in college…aggressive in coverage with the frame, feet and hips to play tight coverage, but needs to develop better discipline to avoid penalties…physical nature is his biggest strength and weakness…not a quick-twitch burner, but he plays with easy, smooth movements and is a passionate competitor…not polished, but cover CBs with his size, speed and NFL upside don’t last long, making him worthy of a top-15 draft pick.

Very nice pick. The Lions have a lot of work to do to catch up as the Vikings just keep getting better. Congrats again, guys.

what a bluff Spielman did with Te'o.

didn't seem to matter though, with all the offensive linemen going too early, it let soooo many good guys drop to us.

will be interesting to see what receivers we end up with.

I was hoping for Te'o, but I'm very happy with the pick.

We still need a MLB & a WR badly.

I really believe if Floyd hadn't fell, Te'o would have been one of our picks. I don't like Rhodes as a scheme fit but I trust that Spielman sees something that I don't.

Absolutely perfect pick. Top need and a tremendous value.

I would have taken Rhodes in the top-10 EASY.

Spielman just put the league on notice.

I love X here. I seriously think we may be switching to playing some more man for our corners. It really doesn't matter as far as scheme goes, we can do whatever we want.

I was shocked they did not trade this to someone that wanted geno.......I love this pick. Huge need, immediate starter.

We still have nobody who can cover the slot..

Winfield left a major hole in our defense and we didnt close it

No one wants Geno, apparently.

Great pick. Cook is good not great, makes a better #2 than #1. Robinson can slide to the slot where he belongs. So if X is a big time CB we're better at 3 positions.

This might be one of the better secondaries in the league in a year or two, and Cook is the veteran entering his 4th year.
