We all knew he was ranked higher on teams board than our rankings.

He is very talented and starts Day 1 at LG.

So far Emery drafts have been some major head scratchers to be honest...

His FA moves are cool though

This is worse than Shea last year.

I know there were bigger named guys left on the board, but personally I don`t mind this pick one bit. Long has good potential, great size and measureables, great bloodlines, and is at a position of need.

Some of you guys set yourselves up to be disappointed way too easily. Nothing is guaranteed in the draft, it`s an inexact science. Remember that before you go to sleep tonight.

So where does that put the OL?

LT - Bushrod
LG - Long
C - Garza
RG - Slausen
RT - Webb

4 out of 5 positions on the OL will have a new player. Underwhelming pic, but at least Emery is fixing the teams biggest weakness from the past few years. I think some of you are overreacting a bit. Could have traded down, but he will make an immediate impact.

He might be a reach but, Long will help solidify the left side of our offensive line.

There were tons of better players still on the board at #20. I really wish Emery went BPA, and not reached based on positional need.

I'm just upset that we didn't take the deal the Rams just got and pick up a 3rd and 6th. It's likely he would still be there at 31. I'm not very happy right now.

Copied this over from the main thread:

It's a need filling pick assuming he starts at LG but it seems like a reach to me. The pick clearly has Kromer written all over it - if he didn't think he could be a stud we wouldn't be the pick at 20.

Like the prospect or not, our biggest need was at OG and we took a guy at that position that our staff and front office thinks is worthy of the pick. Seeing as I'm not a scout I don't have a problem with it even if I would have gone another direction.

Bottom line - if this guy can block, and clearly the coaches think he can, then it's a good pick.

Long better have some OT in his future or this is a total waste of a pick.

Why not just sign another rental like Slauson and actually get value for the pick instead of reaching? I just don't get it.

you guys don't have the picks to take BPA then grab a late guard you hope can start, instead of one your scouts tell you will start.
