Quote:
Johnson is a great athlete. His Combine workout would have been solid for a running back or linebacker, but it was phenomenal for an offensive tackle. He ran faster in the 40-yard dash than Anquan Boldin did at the Combine. Johnson is also strong, agile and explosive. His arms are 35 inches long, giving him an ideal frame for the offensive tackle position. Donít think of Johnson as a finesse athlete. He has a big-time mean streak. He loves to run block and wants to bury his opponent in the ground. Johnson has excellent potential and could develop into a Pro Bowl player. Ē

I canít stress enough how important that final point is. Lane Johnson has some Jon Runyan to his game. He likes to knock the crap out of guys. He wants to block you and make you pay. I think Kelly will love the fact that he got a freaky athlete that has a killer instinct. Usually the guys with the nasty streak are less-talented, overachiever types.

We thought he was the most athletic tackle weíve seen,

He has a huge upside. He hasnít played a ton of offensive tackle but he has played the right side and the left side so he has experience at both sides.

The game is won up front. Heís a tough, physical guy and thatís what I think we were looking for as we went into this draft. Itís an exciting thing when you can target people and get what youíre looking for.

With a top 5 pick. I was hoping for an impact player.

I'm 50/50 on him. I know he's a great athlete but I'm turned away by the lack of experience.

Are you serious? A left tackle is a big impact player. I think what you mean is you wanted a flashy skill guy. Guess what? We had bigger needs and no flashy guys were worth taking at four

No is it no. At least not directly, plus he will be a RT for us at first.

At least the OL looks awesome on paper now.

Our Oline got a major boost by kicking Todd inside and sticking Lane at RT. Insurance for Peters moving forward. I'm fine with this pick.

He has 2 years of offensive line experience. I'm really worried about what happens when you line a professional who played the same position for 10+ years across from him.

I really like this pick. Lane has an insane ceiling and should be a day 1 starter at RT.

Love the pick with what was left! Have to establish that offensive line before anything so are quarterbacks aren't killed. Johnson has a mean streak to him and one analyst says he is the freakiest athlete in 10 years he's seen. Higher jump then Aj green at 310 lbs? Ok.

Also he's not a fireman.
